mdavis0226: Butterfly paper punch, white paint swatches, fishing line, and an embroidery hoop. You could use any sort of sturdy paper for other colors. I used the Martha Stewart all-over paper punch (available on Amazon). After you have them all punched, use a sewing needle to poke a little hole, string the line, and tie off with a knot so it wouldn't move. Tedious, but not bad to do while you watch a movie or something. It flutters nicely when the [fabulous] fan is going.

Our little one will be only a few months old at Christmas and there's not a lot she needs that we didn't get at the baby shower. So we're getting her classes. You could do play, music, art, or swim classes at places like Gymboree or Kindermusik or the local Y. They are a great way to bond with your baby, and allows baby and parents to socialize with their peers.

Laumier Sculpture Park is also a great visit, though a bit further out from the city. The Contemporary Art Museum and the Pulitzer are great art museums to visit as well. Other great restaurants include Farmhaus, Mad Tomato, and Good Pie, and Mr. Wizards is really much better (creamier) than Ted Drew's.

Does the hook scratch up the door or cause the stroller to bang against the door when it opens/closes? I've had that happen with other door hooks, like bathroom door hooks. This one seems much sturdier, but I don't want to be damaging and banging up the door.

I think they're opening one in Chicago soon, too!

The store (and merchandise) is so pretty! Wish this had been around when I got married!

Definitely just ask them if you can have it or buy it when the store is done with it. I work at a retail store and most of the display stuff gets thrown out or taken home by employees. You might have to wait a bit, though-- even when the season is over stores sometimes hold on to things for a while to see if they can use them again.

If you really want to go bold, I would choose an orchid color. In the first photo, I though that was the color of the chair peeking out. I would just paint the wall behind the table because the orchid and yellow colors will really pop against each other, and it still works with the couch color and other accent colors. It would be a small shot of color that wouldn't be too overwhelming and would be easy to change.

The color I'm thinking is along the lines of Benjamin Moore's "Twilight Magenta" or "Liliac Pink".

My parents built their house when I was one years old, so it is the only house I ever remember living in. It is an architecturally modern gem set deep in the woods. I've told them time and again that if they ever move, I get first dibs on the house. I love it there and would love to raise my children in such a nature filled environment.

My parents have blue tile in their kitchen. Their walls and cabinets are ivory and the window trims are a sage green. The lightness of the walls opens up the room.

We have Crate & Barrel's Simone Daybed (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/daybeds-chaises/simone-daybed/s165843) and I LOVE it. It is more comfortable than our couch. Part of the reason I like it is because we can push it up against the wall and turn the cushions so they run along the back- it is much more "couch"-like that way. We have the microfiber fabric and it is pretty easy to care for. Try looking for a chaise that can be multifunctional. You'll get more use out of it and can adapt it to different spaces over the years.

I used the IKEA Kajsastina Fabric to create a hanging panel in our dining room. I originally wanted a large piece of art, but we just couldn't afford it. 2.5 yards of this fabric and one of IKEA's hanging kits- Voila! It makes an impact, but isn't too arresting on the eye. It is an excellent choice!

Marikimo also has great textiles, though the can get pricey.

@dickinson & saucefiend: I did a lantern cluster and hid the cords with PVC pipe. Check it out:

@jessiann16: I did a cluster of them in the corner of a room and here's my solution. I bought a piece of PVC pipe that extends almost to the top of the ceiling. After the lights were positioned, I ran the cords down the PVC pipe (which required a lot of deep breaths and an DIY-pull the cords through-system). The plugs stick out the end and are plugged into one power strip. This allows us to easily turn them all on and off. I then bracketed the pipe to the corner and plastered the brackets for stability. The room's walls are ivory, so the PVC worked well but might require more work for painted walls. A chair in the corner helps cover everything as well. It has really added a lot of light to the room.

Any sources of paint in this color? I love it as an accent, particularly for my workspace. But I haven't been able to find a good spray or home paint color.

We switched from a big traditional dresser to IKEA's Expedit bookcase (laid horizontally) with baskets. Takes up less floor space depth, which was essential to our bedroom. And only $70.

I finally organized all my shoes last year after trying various systems. I bought Container Store's clear plastic shoe and boot boxes (see @Alexandra0223). I used my label maker to put a brief description on the outside since they have to be stored high up and are hard to see. I've also seen people attached Polarod pictures of the shoes to the outside. All in all, the shoes are staying in good condition, they are easy to find and clean up.

@elker62: I've seen a similar method by a professional painter with a flat head screwdriver. Not as sharp, but you're less likely to cut yourself.

I've used Shur-Line's Edge Painter, which is a small rectangular pad that fits into a plastic holder. It does a straight 4" line. I originally bought it to touch up along the ceiling when I had overlaps like the ones shown here. Now when I paint, I put down blue tape AND do the edge roller. Not 100% perfect, but works pretty well.

I have a medium pile shag carpet and I use Bissel's Pet Spot Bot. It works really well for little spots and spills. You don't have to do much work and it doesn't take long. Just make sure you go over the wet spot with the manual hose when it is done because it doesn't get up all the water.
