So nice to see something different on AT! This is denitely stunning, and I love how unabashedly over-designed it is, with a careful palette, items going to spots especially chosen for them, and a flair for the original. Forget mid-century cozy effortless - this is glamour!

Fantastic. Loved the Lawson Fenning pieces, and how you built a whole world around them. Every corner seems very individually thought-out. Perfect!

Beautiful home for the well-collected life. The mix of styles, colors and arts reminds me a bit - dare I say it? - of Emily Henderson's approach!

Nice place - but how is it different from a room&board catalog?

Breathtaking! Funny how many people see this as very traditional - I think it is very up-to-date. The color scheme, with its light greys-blues-silvers-beiges, is nothing our grandomothers would do. The abundance of lighting and the mix of patterns is also very fresh. Yes, there are a lot of mirrors and chandeliers, which is very baroque, but they look different with all this light. I also love the fact that they went for something so beautiful, but not cosy, at least for the formal spaces. It's wonderful to dress nicely and be surrounded by beautiful things, at least to enjoy a drink. The rest of the time, you can wear sweatpants and cuddle with your dog on the red sofa :)

Bold but beautiful! Could you give us a source for the black leather wing chair in the living room?

The house is beautiful, but I particularly liked the photos that show people using the space: cooking, sitting around, watching TV, talking. It gives you an idea of the lifestyle that this house is built to embrace and support. I hope more house tours follow this approach!

That is phenomenal! It is so great to see the same design concept carried from room to room and so nicely executed. It is a house where the details make a beautiful whole. Congrats!

Wonderful - modern yet cosy, and it's hard to get the Barcelona to feel cosy! But the wall above the fireplace is screaming for a painting. Congratulations guys!

Angela - fantastic house! It has a unified style, with so many themes carried around in every room. I love how the pattern from the Prince chair finds a reflection in the bedroom screen - that detail blew me away. And also how you mixed rough wooden textures with modern, I am struggling with this myself right now. Excellent job!

So, the winner of this year's small cool entry will be a house decorated as if we live in 1910? I agree with all of you; the photos scream "cozy," "homey," "calm." I'd love to sit on his sofa and read ...Thoreau or something. But this house is so traditional! Yes, white walls, dark wood and red wood go well together; what's news?

I also did not like the wall color. I can see how it adds a warm glow in the sunlight; but this is a very traditional color in an otherwise very modern home. The white trims in the windows emphasize the more traditional aesthetic, which clashes with the style of the furniture. White or grey might be an option, or even light blue.

My wife and I are in exactly the same position! We moved to the Bay area this past summer, we both have new jobs, and hardly the time to delve into the details of decoration. It is a big white plank - or, in our case, light grey like our walls :) We are recording the pieces we thought we would buy for the various rooms when we moved in, the pieces we are considering in the interim, and the ones we end up buying - or will get in the near future. It's great to see how our feel for the space develops gradually.

Problem is, when you do it piece by piece, you risk losing the overall vision. We got an off-white rug, and suddenly the whole living room was too white! And then we were afraid that our sofa was going to look too dark, so we changed our order to that one. We'll see where this leads...

Generally, I would agree that small vignettes are exhausting our patience and do not add much to the tour. But in this house, the small objects are completely unexpected, based on the style of the house. Yet they blend in so wonderfully! I love modern furniture and old objects but was not sure whether they can co-exist; this house shows one way to do it.

Fantastic house - everything I could wish for.
