Here are my thoughts on "allowing" raw milk. There is a relatively small group of people who create a demand for raw milk. Most of the people who seek it are receiving it now, whether through legal or illegal courses.

The rate of infection is very low. It is lower than that of pasteurized milk, though comparing the numbers simply side by side is biased because MANY more people drink pasteurized milk vs. raw. There have been 143 outbreaks from raw milk since 1987. There have been 422 outbreaks in pasteurized milk after 1987. In the year 1987 they had 16,000+. I removed that since that is obviously atypical.

The other problem I have with raw milk being illegal is the costs that the federal government incurs from preventing the sale of it. Raiding dairy farms for selling raw milk with hordes of federal agents is not something we should be spending tax dollars on. Does that seem okay to you?

My view is that it is the person's choice to put what they want in their body. Such a novel thought in a "free" society.

I was gifted a Keurig for Christmas. Other than the sample dozen pack of cups that is included with the coffee-maker, we have never bought any k-cups. I didn't even like the coffee that was in them, and I thought the thing was going to be a wash.

Our gift included an EZ Cup, which is a reusable cup that takes paper filters, like a normal coffeemaker. You just fill it will coffee and put it in the machine, and just pitch the filter and grounds, again like a normal coffeemaker. I use the same amount of coffee as I do for a cup of coffee.

I have to say that the coffee tastes substantially better than a normal drip coffeemaker. The Keurig doesn't heat the water as scalding hot, and subsequently brews a better cup.

I also end up using less water because I don't have to wash out a carafe every day, just my mug.

I got a pretty bad taste in my mouth at Thanksgiving a few years ago. My uncle usually brings the pies, but that year he never called my mom and told her he was bringing them. So she asked me. I made 3 homemade pies, they were perfect. What happened? I came to thanksgiving and my uncle brought store-bought pies. Frustrating.

I love using Braeburns. They are a cross of granny smith and something else (can't remember). They are a great mixture of sweet and tart.

I work in an open office setting too. My boss is territorial over the scissors. It is the only pair of scissors we have. She glares at you if you borrow them, and you had better bring them back to her computer station. She also stares at us all day long.....uncomfortable.....so much that the comfortableness of your chair seems like a petty thing to think about, lol. Ouch, I'm mean, but it's the truth.

When our baby was little I always heard her, and my hubby never did. Now that I'm pregnant with my second I'm dead out asleep and my husband hears her everytime. I guess that's good though, I need my sleep! :)

When I make spaghetti squash I pierce the squash with a fork all over then throw it in the micro for about 5 minutes. Softens it up perfectly so you can cut it open to bake.

I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that I add a package of jello pudding mix to. It is divine. Just make sure you don't overbake them or they are crumbly! Usually I adjust the amount a flour a smidge.

I like cheese. I could eat it on a boat, with a goat.....lol. I really don't think I've come across many cheeses that I would flat out not eat. I am not a fan of smoked cheeses though, just a wierd flavor, but I would not be adverse to trying new kinds that might be good!

I only use self checkout when I have a few items AND there isn't a line. There's bound to be one or two people ahead of you that are either going to break the machine, or just take FOREVER to scan their items.

For the people who have problems with the baggers in the manned checkout lines squishing their produce and bread: Empty your cart in a certain order so you don't have to worry about it! Bottles like milk/juice first, then boxed items, cans, meat/cheeses, hard produce, then your softer produce, eggs and bread. It's amazing how much smoother it goes if you set it up for correct packing.

On the other hand, if you have a publix in your area, like Katy did said, GO THERE. I have never had a problem. They really do a great job on training their baggers with how many items to put in a bag, not mixing certain items with each other, seperately bagging things like meat that could possibly contaminate your other groceries, etc.
