Yay, proud member of the minty kitchen club here. :) First I thought about painting the cabinets like that but now they are a creamy white and the walls are mint green. It looks so fresh and has that cheerful 50ies feeling. Love it! 10 Minty Fresh Kitchens Kitchen Inspiration |

Just because you use them as garbage bags that doesn't change the fact that overall those bags produce tons and tons of garbage per day and many countries don't even have a proper recycling industry. And yeah, other people who worked in production companies that screwed up the environment also lost their jobs in the past. How did all the European countries like Germany manage who already have those policies since decades? Plastic Bag Style: Lauren DiCioccio's Reusable Totes |

No, we are not only supposed to like things here. But the people who post here obviously like it. You on the other hand only post to complain about people liking something and not enough negative comments. Kimaada's "Pretty Edgy in Pink" Room Room for Color Contest |

I think one would need to be a bit nuts to pay more than $100 per night for any room, unless the plan is to stay there all day and enjoy the awesome design. o_O Anyway, normals hotel rooms in Europe are well more affordable and you can spend the hundreds of dollars on sightseeing, shopping, good food etc. Design Minded Travel: Hotels in Europe Under $250 |

@Sasha2: These buildings were not in use anymore. And I am not even talking about modern organised religion - lets better not go there - but about old church buildings. I'm not neo-liberal, I am oldschoold liberal European. ;) As a conservator of art I work with church related art a lot and while I love the craftsmanship and the buildings, a lot of this was created and build on the shoulders of and with money pressed out of the poorest of the poor. You have to keep in mind that some of those old church buildings being transformed into new homes are sometimes hundreds of years old. The Ultimate in Upcycling: Homes in Converted Churches |

I find the term upcycling quite fitting for those lovely projects. Churches were and are not always places were unity and love were/are preached and organised religion often exploited the poor (or made people poor in the first place) rather than helped them out. So no reason to call living in those buildings downgrading. The Ultimate in Upcycling: Homes in Converted Churches |

I my last apartment I had a whole family of mice first using the woodwork of the roof as runways and staring at my neck (XD) and then one by one jumping down. I waited until they walked into the bathroom and then caught them with a towl and a huge glass and brought them outside. So cute! I just fear they might have died because some of them were still pretty young. :( Mousetraps by Roger Arquer |

As cute as this room is, personally I wouldn't be able to keep the thought out of my mind that the money I spend on an interior designer (on anything, not only a child's room) would probably save the live of a dozen or so starving children. I would have killed for the before, the after looks so generic shabby chic, even though I like the addition of the shelf. Before & After: Lightening Up a Guest Bath Thistlewood Farm |

Definitely not a European thing, never seen such tiny duvets in any European country. The duvet, tickness depending on the time of the year, is usually bigger than the bed and in hotels they tend to fould it in half so it looks neat. You unfould it when you go to sleep. @kopanko: I agree with MamaHolt about the comments about taxidermy. Personally I don't like trophy hunting and the guys obviously don't either. But come on, if a hunter quickly kills a wild animal and makes use of bith the meat and the rest of the body this animal had an indefintely better life than those suffering in mass farming, transport and a horrible death in a butchery. Most likely only to be thrown away because only a fraction of the meat on the market actually gets sold. Chris & Roger's DIY + Modern Farmhouse House Tour |

I read tons of books per year and I am not so sure those stats are relevent because they don't take into account the amount of books 'traditionalists' (are we actually having terms for that now?) loan from the library and friends and relatives. Personally I tried to read an e-book twice and failed miserably. Who Reads More: E-Readers or Traditionalists? |
