My boyfriend gets HANGRY! I didn't notice it until our first trip together. A non regular eating schedule. We call it cranky. When I told him about "hangry" he was not amused. He declared that he is definitely more cranky than angry. Maybe if I had given him a snack first he would have been more ok with the term.

Now we have a snack plan whenever we go out. Makes shopping trips so much better. Though it is always a struggle when we are with my constantly dieting family.

After moving to a new place and on the hunt for a new brunch spot, I am completely fed up with yelp. The reviewers rave about a place where the croque monsieur is a $10 piece of burnt toast with crappy ham and cheese on top. It is starting to feel like getting advice from a friend with no idea what good means.

I miss urbanspoon. I trusted their reviews but it doesn't seem like they are keeping up with new places. Have they shut down and just not taken down the site?

When Amazon has a lot of reviews for a product it is helpful because after some sifting through the obviously false ones, it is easy to get the gist of what people think of it.

It is good to know about expedia reviews. I will have to keep that in mind.

Definitely agree with the need for a towel. But I have found that a sarong makes a great substitute. It dries quickly, takes minimal space, weighs very little, and has many other purposes.

I always try out new recipes for people. It is a great excuse to make interesting and complicated things. The only exception would be my boyfriend's parents. Even after all these years, still want them to think I am flawless in the kitchen. Or as close as I can be with well practiced recipes.

My vote is for tube on Piccadilly line and transfer to the Circle line to get to Westminister. While it will take about 40 minutes, I believe when most people think about seeing London one cannot help but think about walking past Parliament.

When I was showing my sister around London, we had one mad dash day where we started near the Tower of London, crossed Tower Bridge, walked along the South Bank of the river all the way to Parliament, went by Buckingham Palace, then through Hyde Park where we had tea at the Orangery in Kensington Palace (also where they have the Princess Diana museum and where Will and Kate live when they are in London). There is nothing quite like telling friends at home that you had afternoon tea at a palace. If you are up for a good deal of walking, I would suggest walking as much of the river as you can. I think it is a better use of a short time to see many sites from the outside than deal with the giant lines to see the interior of one place.

I have taken the express from Paddington. It is a mess of a station, like trying to navigate Grand Central Station. It takes a bit longer, but the Tube is easier to navigate and has a lot more options of stops. Plus I don't think you can have a true experience of London until you have heard the Tube voice say, "Mind the Gap." And for the truly juvenile part of me... "this train is for cockfosters." Which you will hear on the Piccadilly Line going North.

Is this yurt the 6th yurt because they do not last long? What is the typical lifespan of a yurt? Are they year round or is this a very expensive and time consuming summer structure that must be redone every year?

Thanks for the info! My boyfriend and I both went to Humboldt State so we LOVE Mad River Brewery. We signed up for the service and will be even happier when more breweries sign up. Odell and Left Hand coming soon? Let's hope!

What a timely post. I made meatloaf last night just the way my mom used to make it when I was a kid. Broccoli on the side and broccoli stem ground up and put in the meatloaf. She did it to sneak in a little extra veggie but also to stretch her food dollar by adding more to the beef and not wasting broccoli stem which my sister and I would not eat otherwise.

Now I can't imagine having meatloaf without broccoli on the side and in. Otherwise it would be too dense and missing something.

My boyfriend, who never liked meatloaf, loves it this way. I would like to think that I would teach our future hypothetical children to love veggies and not need to hide them, but if I do, I will have lots of tips from my mom to hide the veg.

My boyfriend's brother gave me a food processor. Now I can't imagine how I was ever able to live without one.

In my last apartment, I wasn't allowed to paint so I ordered chalkboard contact paper. It looked like it was painted but came off so easily. After two years and covering an area of 6' by 6' it only took off a dime size piece of paint in one spot. Landlord happy and I was happy.
