When I purchase fresh farm eggs, I request that the eggs not be refrigerated. I have left those eggs out on the counter for up to a month and have never suffered any health consequences. (I guess the eggs could be washed just before using, but I never did.) The power washing of eggs and subsequent required refrigeration is truly frustrating and unnecessary.

Try searching for "paleo cereal" for some grain-free granola recipes. Then you can use the granola to top yogurt, or mix into quinoa "oatmeal", or you can add milk to it and simulate a breakfast cereal.

Brew up the teas and use the leaves and water for your plants. Spent tea leaves and coffee grounds are perfect for plants. Word of caution though, if using on inside plants, beware of a possibility of fungus gnats. Best used outside to avoid this.

I've never tried it pan fried before, but sugar is a must!

LOL...he should eat everything that I'm avoiding in order to lose weight. :) In my opinion, the bulk of his diet should be high carb foods like pastas (mixed with full fat cheeses, full fat milk, lots of lean protein) oatmeal (cooked with full fat milk, dried fruits and natural nut butter, top with full fat granola) and breads (spread with natural nut butter.) For snacks, either a protein shake, couple of protein bars, or handfuls of nuts. For you, I'd have a small amount of what he's having and a side of soup or salad at dinner.

Good luck!

Thank you for spreading the word on this method of opening pomegranates. This is exactly how my mom taught me to eat pomegranates and it works beautifully! I cringe every time I hear about people whacking their pomegranates or putting the fruit underwater!

Very cute and very clever, but the top is kinda hard to close correctly. If you don't get the each particular compartment closed then the food will get all mixed up together anyways. Forget soups, just nuts and fruit and granola will all end up in one compartment.

If the pork is already sauced:
Pulled Pork Pizza
Over a baked potato
Quesadilla

If unsauced:
Grilled Cheese
Enchiladas
Taco Salad
Taco
Nachos
Soup
Chili

Definitely freezable.

I get these from my Asian supermarket and much prefer them over the smaller green beans. Not really for the taste (though I do agree that they stay crisper in stir-fries), but for the quick prep! :)

I made a giant lasagna for my friend after she gave birth and she was much more thankful for that than if I came by with a cute outfit for the baby. Food and diapers are a lifeline for new moms! Her church also had a sign up for members to come by with food for the new parents. Genius!

Friendship isn't about being "even." If the other couple doesn't feel slighted then just keep the things they way they are. Do be sure to bring nice wine and/or a dish and perhaps a handwritten note for their hospitality though!

I cut off the non-root end first and peel away an extra layer of actual onion. Yes, I do waste one layer of onion, but it's worth it for me so I don't have to deal with all those onion skins. All the excess goes right into the compost. Easy peasy!

Very cute, but a simple tupperware or sandwich ziploc baggie does just fine in this house. I've found forgotten bags of onions in the back of the fridge that are still in perfect condition that didn't stink up the fridge.
