Great costumes. Love the s'more, but nothing compares to that ear of corn. I am totally gonna do the corn for next year!!

Wow! The winning one is AWESOME! Although I also love Lily & Ruby's room... so bright and colorful... they did a great job making a feminine room while using blue as the paint color. Very refreshing.

I agree with Nat2b... $700 seems very reasonable to me, unless you get a lot of hand-me-downs. I thought they did an awesome job. Obviously, you could do it for less, but for these folks, the atmosphere of the nursery was clearly important.

I gotta say, though, that I'm amused that this post is accompanied by a photo of the Weego bottles. At $13 a pop, they're among the least budget-friendly bottles out there...

This doesn't involve the driveway, but I recently saw instructions for making concrete stepping stones with your kids' hand/foot prints. I thought it was a cute idea... you can add a stone each year as they grow. The best part is, if you ever move away, you can take the stepping stones with you.

Some of these suggestions are good, although I bet most kids would still prefer a fun-size Snickers to an eraser. If you give a non-food item, it's got to be both awesome and season-appropriate (for kids in most of the US, bubbles and sidewalk chalk are not useful items to receive in late October).

I don't have any problem with handing out candy. The childhood obesity epidemic is about day-to-day lifestyle... it's not about Halloween. Kids need to be eating healthfully on a regular basis, and parents should settle down and let them enjoy special occasions like Halloween.

Haha, I love it! It looks horrendous for the baby... where do the baby's legs go? The leg rest appears in front rather than underneath the seat, forcing the kiddo to sit with the legs straight out in front instead of hanging down in a natural sitting position.

Pretty cool! I can't imagine spending $75 on a sheet for my kid's diaper to explode on, but if I had [far] more disposable income, I'd totally be getting this!

I love the crib on wheels!

The colors are beautiful, but I do think that some of the shades would make it difficult to use these pieces for years, as the article suggests. A dusty violet armoire might feel fresh and different, but after 5 years I think I'd be tempted to replace or paint it. Same with all the gray... it looks both modern and timeless NOW, but in 10 years? I think the color will become dated.

What We're Loving: Laurette Furniture For Little Ones

In preparation for our baby, we just tore out our carpet and replaced it with glossy, dark (espresso) laminate. It's beauuutiful; I love the look and the fact that it will stand up to not only the kiddo, but also our 2 crazy dogs.

But yes, it does show smudges quite readily, and I think both the dark color and the high shine contribute to that issue. With a high-quality laminate, you don't really get scratches the way you do with hardwood, so at least that isn't a problem. You can always clean the floor and it looks perfect... but then it looks dirty again fairly quickly just because everything shows up.

This is super awesome... it would be like walking on a sea of marshmallows. I wish there was more info about what type of foam they used, and how they were able to adhere it securely enough for the whole thing to be durable and washable...
