Hi guys! I didn't even know this was published! To answer your questions:
1) the chairs are from a local hardware store in Houston
2) the tree in the first pic is a pencil plant, but its a variety that grows vertically like a tree instead of outward into a bush shape.
3) the cushions for the chairs are from target, and the pillows are Pendleton

@SherriEakin - exactly!

People...LIGHTEN UP! Quit taking things so seriously. AT is not making any kind of statement here about owners needing to be sooo hot to be on their site, they're just making a fun post in response to readers' comments.

It's nice to see the faces of those actually living in the spaces we see. After all, doesn't YOUR personal style influence your home decor? Isn't a lived-in home so much better than a sterile one photographed for magazines? I personally enjoy seeing the owners who live in these spaces, and if they happen to be hot, so be it! :)

I grew up in a house with a wood burning stove with the smoke stack which ran up to and through the ceiling. It's still in the house, operating just as well, today. My dad always cut the wood and my brother and I would unstack it onto the porch. On cold mornings, the first thing we did was run to the fireplace and crowd around, trying to warm up. Such happy memories surrounding the fireplace!

Even as a child, I knew how to operate our fireplace. So one pro is that it's extremely easy. the one bad thing I can think of is that the entire thing - top, sides, back - all get extremely hot. My dad had a magnetic thermometer which stuck to the stack so we could tell if it was still hot. Other than teaching your kids NOT TO TOUCH the thing, I think it's a great alternative to a traditional fireplace.

Bradley - I'm pretty sure you and I were separated at birth. I've never seen a home so full of plants and rocks, just like....MINE! My friends just don't get it - they come over and ask, "Why do you have a rock in the bathroom?" and it's not even worth it to explain how excited I am by finding a really awesome rock.

What are you going to do with the crystals shown in one of the pics? My dad wraps the top part in copper wire and makes a loop at the top. He uses them as fan pulls. I've been using them as Christmas ornaments :)

Beautiful home! Thank you so much for sharing - this rock/plant/weirdstuff geek really enjoyed it!

Sorry, correction, they were Hudson Bay blankets - not Glacier National.....so....a good deal or overpriced?

I saw 2 Glacier National blankets at an antique shop in Houston this weekend (both the same, cream background with bright stripes like the Pendleton blanket in the photo above). They were marked at $180. Is that a good deal??

This is the stupidest product I have ever seen. Everyone should just get a bidet and be done with it.

Beautiful home! The only thing I HATE is the fact that.....
I will be moving back to Austin in about 8 months and this house will absolutely not be on the market at that time. :(

Meant to also say that in Houston, we don't walk much. Sad but true!

I do one of two things when my frozen fruit won't chop:

1. blend slowly, with lots of breaks to push the frozen stuff to the bottom near the blade

2. load the frozen fruit into the blender pitcher at night, let it sit in the fridge all night, and the fruit is soft in the morning.

Or, you could microwave it like another poster said. I don't think it warrants a new one...unless you are really just looking for an excuse to get one ;)
