DIY Woven Rug A Beautiful Mess

The only problem with the 'reusability' of this, as anyone who ever had a whiteboard at school knows, is that as soon as you get dry erase marker on the sharpie lines they'll rub straight off with it.

A recipe I found on here yesterday!
I posted my woes in its comment thread.

Bad Recipes: Have You Ever Been Burned?
9/29/11 12:37 AM

My poor boyfriend attempted to make this last night. After the lamb and beans had been stewing on low for half an hour, he texted me frantically asking what to do, as the meat had burnt terribly on the bottom (my poor white dutch oven!) and the beans had turned to a soggy mess.

We rescued it by tossing the beans, rinsing the meat off and getting as much of the burnt crust from the dutch oven as we could, then putting the meat back in with the tomato (I also added some passata, half a can of water and a dash of tomato paste and red wine), cooked for another 45 minutes, and adding the new beans at last minute to keep them tender rather than mooshy.

It did end up pretty yummy, especially with the yoghurt (although quite a few bits of the expensive lamb were burned on the bottom) but I'm wondering if the recipe mixed up the addition of the beans and tomato. Surely the tomato would go in before slow-cooking to give it some moisture?

Awesome! Now I just need a spare room to put my sewing desk.

I have a Galaxy S for testing purposes at work, and after several days carrying around it and my new iPhone 4 I definitely agree with the reviewer's points. No, I'm not a die-hard Apple fangirl, I honestly think that the iphone is a better designed and better put together phone. The Galaxy's screen BENDS when I press it, for heaven's sake.

PS: I have small hands as well!

Definitely Paul Newman's Napolitana. Yes, I usually make my own, but a 'Jar of Paul' is our shortcut to a quick and delicious dinner. My non-cook boyfriend likes to make it with chorizo, zucchini and eggplant.

I love the laundromats in Sydney - for $10 you get your load of washing washed, dried and folded for you, and you come back to get it whenever you feel like it. However, I only use laundromats when it's been raining and I need to tumble dry my sheets, or when I can't be bothered waiting 2 days for my clothes to dry on the inside line because the outside line is too wet.

My go-to meal when I'm eating alone is pasta with cheese on it. That's it. I also eat it far too often, sometimes 3 times a week.

I always do this, I love how the insides get crispy. If you cook them uncut until they start to go brown, then cut them open, they don't curl. I've only ever cooked really cheap fatty butcher's sausages this way though, I'm not really fond of any others. It's probably from growing up in a small community where sausage sizzles were a big treat... I still count a cheap grilled sausage on soft white wonderbread with a dash of bbq sauce to be one of my favourite foods!

Those chalk markers, although super fun to use, actually require effort (we used to use cola) to get off blackboards. And when you're wiping it off, the colours tend to smudge over any paint that's not chalkboarded. Be careful! Perhaps use real, plain white, chalk.

I still have wire retainers on the back of my teeth nearly 10 years after having my braces off, and I've gone without corn cobs the whole time.
A couple of weeks ago I said 'to hell with it' and chomped into a full cob. It took a while with floss to get all the bits out but it's SO MUCH MORE SATISFYING than eating little bits of corn with a fork.

This would work fine in a place without squirrels and possums and racoons! Say... inner city Sydney? Now if only we had trees... and birds.

That clear chair at the desk is amazing! I'm also surprised you share with a 'he', I'm trying to man-ify my own space to share with one.

Two cats in a space so small? My kitty goes mad when she's locked inside the house for the entire day... but maybe she's a little bit crazy. I also wonder where you put your litter box, and admire your placement of the instruments. I'll be facing that challenge soon moving out with my muso boyfriend.

I wish I could thrift but I work in a city office full-time (no op-shops anywhere around there) and the locals are only open until lunch on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays. It takes a lot of effort to be out of the house before 11 on the weekends!
I also don't have anyone who can lend me a trailer, a hitch on my car, or know how to drive a rented truck so Gumtree (Australia's version of Craiglist, I guess) is a bit useless for furniture as well. :(
Hopefully I'll have at least a little bit of luck when I move into my own apartment soon...
