I think those complaining about the loss of public spaces are forgetting the fact that these spaces being for sale in the first place means they have most likely already closed their doors.

Would you rather someone re purposed the space into a home or business? Or bulldozed it to be replaced with a generic pop up building?

Hate chlorinated pools!

Love salt water pools!

Grew up with the use of a saltwater pool at my grandparents, it was fantastic and far more refreshing than any chlorinated pool.

I'd be interested to hear of coloured stove tops available in Australia. All the ones I have found for sale have been in America.

SAUVETEUR, I am glad I'm not being invited to your house for movie night.

Do you pass around the wireless headphones? Or watch using the terrible tinny built in speakers in your TV that have to be turned up louder to hear dialogue than a mid range surround sound?

I'll stick with my 7.1 surround sound that I can actually listen to quieter than TV speakers while hearing more detail in my movie.

Most uncomfortable nights sleep of my life have been on airbeds.

Last time my back seized, and I'm an active 27 year old with no joint problems. Since then I've decided that sleeping on the floor is better than an air mattress.

No need for a TV in the bedroom. People who complain about insomnia, but have distracting elements in their bedroom are doing it wrong.

Put chilli powder on your window sills and porch.

I find having a TV in an ergonomic position in the room far more important than the current AT/Designer "shame" in having a displayed TV.

While my TV isn't on at all times, you can bet on it being a large high quality big screen front and centre in the lounge room.

However I don't think the majority of houses need more than 1 TV, and I seriously doubt the need for more than 2.

In a place that small I wouldn't plant anything in the ground. Keep it all potted, at least then you can move and re-arrange it as it suits your needs.

Why on earth would you leave your own house vacant to look after someone else's house?

I'll never understand this.

To be honest it looks like this has already happened before you bought the chair, and someone else had glued them back in before selling to you.

The house we are renting had wood panelling as one wall in each room. Our landlords instead of ripping it out painted it the same colour as the drywall and I'm glad they did. Now each room has a feature wall with a bit of character without having any heavy colours.

Boy am I glad I don't have to navigate the awfulness of American cell phone plans.

SMS being an option?
Caller ID being an option?
CDMA phones that can't have an open line and access internet at the same time?
Telco's that are obsessed with exclusive phones and carrier branding them.

I'm glad I live in a country that took up mobile phones in the first place, and didn't go down the pager path for years.

I seriously don't understand the general AT shame in having a TV permanently featured in their living room.

100% over. Under always pulls way too much paper and doesn't break easily, needs two hands to break cleanly.

There are only two times I can think of that renting a storage place is worthwhile.

1) You are temporarily moving far away and will be back and need your things.
2) You are having issues selling large expensive items and need to store them in the mean time.

Otherwise it is just a waste of money and effort. If you don't need it where you live, you probably don't need it!

There's no other way my phone will be charged and ready to go in the morning, and it wont go near a charger again until the evening.

With modern smartphones with push email, push notifications and constant internet access it's not like they get days of use. The only people I know who get semi decent life out of their smartphones are the ones who should just have dumbphones anyway, they'll use it for SMS, phone calls, and a tiny bit of internet.

Why You Shouldn't Leave Your Cell Phone Plugged in at Night

We live next door to either a community service house or government owned house.

When we moved in the woman was a single mother who was quiet, then we discovered everytime she got a boyfriend there would be all night screaming matches starting from midnight until 7am, and when she has a partner and they are getting along, they have people show up to smoke and talk outside their house all night long (because who needs to sleep at night when you don't have a job?).

Somewhere along the line the children seem to of been taken away from her which has made her worse, because now she doesn't have to worry about waking the kids up.

They also were left with a friends adult untrained dog at one point that they totally ignored and would constantly bark. I ended up setting the trigger hose up on the fence so any time it barked I'd run out and hose it down while yelling shut up. While you can't train awful neighbours, I trained their awful dog to shut up when I told it to.

After the awful experiences I've had with neighbours, I can't wait to buy a house on a big block and surround it with high fences and hedges so I don't ever need to interact with my neighbours.

The stripes make the room look small, I don't like them at all.

The house we are renting had pine panelling on the walls, and before we moved in the landlord painted over them in the same colour as the drywall walls. Looks refreshing compared to flat no detail drywall.
