Try just pulling out the tiles and leaving the ceiling bare. I've seen it work when the ceiling is painted black. Despite the support bars, it kind of disappears.

My parents live in a very rural exurb, and AT&T gave them this to compensate for the terrible reception in the house. I'm not there very often, but I've never noticed any dropped calls and reception quality is fine.

I've had my desk in my bedroom nearly all my life, so it's something I'm used to.

Once when I lived in a huge apartment I was able to put the desk somewhere else, but all that did was make the bedroom seem cavernous and empty.

Until I can afford a house or a two-bedroom apartment, I don't see how I can live without a desk in the bedroom.

I've been without cable for two years, relying almost exclusively on Netflix, which serves my eclectic cinematic tastes perfectly. It helps I'm not a huge sports fan, but like a commenter above mentioned, local sports bars are perfect for me when I want to see a game. I watched most of the World Cup this way.

I have a small downtown loft in the Midwest. Because I have a roommate, a bedroom + office is a necessity for both of us. If space and privacy weren't at a premium, a dedicated office would be much better.

As it is, we both have laptops and work in the main room most of the time anyway.
