My soft close cabinets have no handles. There is a small lip at the bottom that is the "pull". Basically the doors are 1cm longer than the carcass. yes i do get finger prints but think i get less on them than the under counter cabinets which have handles. My thoughts were that i could always put handles on later if i wanted but i dont want, i love them plain. Just clean lines with a semi matt finish, quick wipe on occasion. If i had a high shine finish it would be the end of me.

i found if i keep my timber furniture oiled, it stops mold from growing on it. I asked a carpenter one day if oiling helps stop it and the answer was yes followed by an explanation that i no longer remember!

I had new remote control ceiling fan/light installed and would come home finding them with lights on and fan on high when i knew they hadnt been on. Also the light would slightly flicker at times.(a lot) After a few visits from the fan company, it turned out that the remote control was on the same frequency as someone else's in our large block of flats. So frequency was changed and problem solved. Does the light flicker at the same time every night? i was asked. Hmmm well, actually yes. Apparently due to living in high density area and being somewhat near to an electricity station, the electricity was being effected by the change in the off peak power kicking in. It still does it but it has never bothered me now that i know.

whenever i need a fish sauce/shrimp paste substitute i use bottled yellow fermented soy beans. they make a world of difference if you're making laksa or curry pastes. You can throw them in anything for that salty zing.
