Loved this tour and bought the book. We are nomads and I have lived with some very rudimentary kitchens and still produced some wonderful meals. Where ever we go I carry a good chef's knife and the first stop is at the best market I can find within about 40 miles. You don't need much equipment or space to make great food - you need good ingredients and a willingness to make it work.

Another wonderful source for heirloom beans is Phipps Country Store http://www.phippscountry.com
I have some Chestnut Runner beans in the pot right now and I have to say they may be the prettiest beans ever!

My husband and I live in similar sized space and are perfectly comfortable. Our inside space is basically our bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and the entire rest of the country is our living room. I guess it is all about perspective.

I love the house and think that tiny houses are very do-able for 2 people. However, it really bothers me that some many tiny house folks are only living in theirs part time. To me it totally defeats the purpose. If your goal is REALLY to reduce your footprint adding another space to the one you live in regularly regardless of it's size is NOT doing that. It is ADDING footprint.
My husband and I have lived for months at a time in small places - our rooftop tent, hotel rooms, an Airstream etc. We don't get bothered by the close quarters. It is all about how your personalities mesh.

I absolutely love this kitchen. The colors, the design/organization. The details. Wow!

The barn is by far my favorite of all. Colors, lights, space... everything.
I agree with the plates comment above... they just look weird. Love the stripes, stripes and more stripes in the house.
The yurt is the nicest I've seen. Not a big fan of them but that really looks inviting.

Sounds so good! I haven't been able to find smoked paprika here in Mexico but I may have to have someone bring me some from the US so I can try this recipe!

You can now get organic graham crackers that don't have high fructose corn syrup... I'll have to try it with those. I'm also wondering if pouring some rum into the bottom layer might make it a bit like the rum cakes my mother used to make... Can't hurt!!

Good for you! We have been trying to get up the umph to do this ourselves. We've been nearly full time nomads for the last 6 years but haven't been able to muster the energy to go back and get rid of our stuff. You are wise to get is over with before hand! Now you are free!

I really like this space especially the colors and mix of elements. Only two gripes - the armoire needs some color and the table with the two lamps feels too even and divided. Work in some odd numbered arrangements and break it up a little.
You've done a great job working around a lot of that "rental" look and have made it your own. Lovely job!!

My husband and I have been doing this for the last 5 years. Our family thinks we are nuts and we have never enjoyed our lives more. We can both work from anywhere with a good internet connection. Some of our previous locations have included San Miguel de Allende Mexico, Dijon France, Yachats Oregon, Cape Cod, Mazatlan Mexico, Toronto Canada and Cedar Key Florida. Starting next week wee're spending a month in Northern CA next followed by 3 1/2 months on Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico. We haven't decided what to do after that... but believe me it'll be wonderful!
It is a lifestyle choice and once you've made it I bet you won't want to go back....

I *WANT* the dining chairs!! I have two similar ones with wooden seats/back that I'd love to find siblings for someday :)
Love that you made intolerable peach tile completely live-able by using the grey paint. Quite a coup there!!
The whole home has great character and charm.

I think it is wonderful and absolutely I would live in a hotel full time. We have done essentially that for the last 5 years @ 250+ hotel nights a year. We travel for business and pleasure. We are not at the mercy of our "stuff".

Gorgeous job! It was not terrible to begin with other than a case of the blands but you really perked it up. Amazing what some creative thought and some paint can do isn't it?

Chicken is only dull because most of the chicken in the grocery store tastes little better than the plastic bag it is wrapped in. If you buy organic free range chicken even plain poached chicken breast has great flavor! Great recipes are better with great ingredients! :)
