We are about to offer a line of wood patterned and/or concrete coated table tops that double as art for small spaces or that occasional need for an extra table. Check out our current work here: www.builtconcrete.com Space-Saving Magic: \"Hide\" Your Dining Table On The Wall! |

We've made a lot of wood patterned dining table tops and art and we use 1/4" plywood and cut it into strips and stain in varying colors. Thanks for sharing this. I think it's a topic on so many minds right now yet most are embarrassed to be in this uncomfortable situation (I'm a real estate agent in NW Chicago burbs and we've been seeing SO MANY in this situation). These are the same options we share regularly and do our best to help set them up with experienced short sale team or help finding renters if they really need to move. When Housing Needs Change |

I couldn't resist running to the store for sewing circles (which I love using for wall decor anyway) and tinsel. Here's how mine turned out if anyone is interested: http://diy-my-home.com/2010/11/tinsel-wreaths/ Make A Super Shiny Wreath In 5 Minutes Flat Creature Comforts |

I would think that as long as you use a low VOC paint it would be okay...still makes me nervious. We have the blue IKEA crib: http://diy-my-home.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/DSC_0196-e1284942787848-500x746.jpg Colorful Cribs |

What an amazing job! Those are beautiful...and so is the rest of the house. I love how smooth you can get the counters when pouring them in molds but we were too lazy for that and poured in place w/ bullnose edgeforms we bought. I SO wish I could go to one of those workshops. After pouring our own in place w/ bullnose edging (and needing to resurface the 'experimental island') we learned that you get better and better the more you do it. But no regrets here. We poured our own in place w/ a bullnose edge. We stained them w/ a charcoal color stain (which seems to hide any water/acid marks very well). So far so good here...but I wouldn't go rolling dough on them since ours are not polished smooth. I prefer a large cutting board for those times. Here's a link to how we poured ours w/ lots of pics of the process:

We poured concrete countertops in place in our kitchen, then stained them a dark charcoal color but had to resurface a few areas. You could just re-seal them or maybe even stain them for a completely different look. Good Questions: Repairing a Concrete Countertop? |
