I do not recall it being a problem growing up, but now that I am a dad I find that often roasting a chicken ( or a pork roast) uncovered means that the inside of my Bosch oven is coated, rather than just splattered, with grease that then tends to pool on the oven floor.

What, if anything, am I doing incorrectly or overlooking?

Keeping one's kitchen clean overall, and as one prepares a meal is normal, being germ phobic is not, in my opinion.

The range is nearly identical to a Tappen Fabulous 400 electric counter top stove/oven with fold out cutting board that was part of a kitchen remodel the original owners of my 1951 house did in 1964. These ovens were produced by Tappen in the very late 1950s through mid-1960s.

We scrapped ours shortly after purchasing the house, as part of the remodeling of our kitchen with Ikea cabinets and Bosch appliances, because it was not fully functional and the "homemade" remodeled Kitchen they did then was completely worn out and not suitable for use anymore.

Other manufactures produced similar designs.

Enjoy!
