Love this home--especially the art and the rugs--but I have a silly practical question: How on earth can that desk chair be pulled in and out while resting on a plush furry rug? It looks like the rug would move every time the chair moves.

Estydesign: Don't worry, most writers can't afford 2,000 square feet in Queens, never mind in the West Village. Ann says she doesn't have a lot of money, so I'm envious of whatever lucky set of circumstances allowed her to afford this apartment!

Doesn't it depend at all on the color of your kitchen/dining area?

I noticed the same thing... the rug pictured in the room looks the same as the second one. So I looked at the Safavieh website (search there for "Constellation"), which gives you a better sense of the colors. "Milky Way" looks more off-white; "Daybreak" is a darker beige. And yes, the yellow/gold one is "Moon."

I'm moving into a new apartment soon, and I'm nervous because the subway runs underneath it! This fluffy rug will help absorb the noise, and be comfy on my feet.
