The White House and the U.S. Capitol were built by slaves. Northerners owned slaves and sold my American Indian ancestors from Massachusetts into slavery in the Caribbean. To bring this into the commentary about a house in the south in 2013 is political correctness gone mad.

Check out Wulff Art on Facebook - another New Mexico artist. I own 5 of his pieces and his sugar skulls are fantastic. He individually cuts and paints each piece from car license plates.

I have a 1919 bungalow - Tudor revival - and painted it nearly the same. White trim, gray body and yellow door. The only difference is that I painted the triangular area formed by the roof peak a lighter shade of gray. It looks great. I use terracotta and black as accents.

You may want to consider beaded glass light bulb covers. There are some on Etsy and elsewhere. Not sure if they are exactly appropriate for the time period, but... Also, Pottery Barn sells less expensive Edison style bulbs via their web site (or did...) My 1919 bungalow had these lights throughout and the knob and tube wiring was soldered to the sockets, so as the other commenter posted, beware!

Copper sheeting or vintage metal ceiling tiles might also be options.
