@jmorri26 Wow, way to be judgmental.

I have a cleaner who comes once a week a couple of hours because I am out of the house long enough during the week that I don't want to spend the weekend cleaning instead of relaxing. I still do the smaller chores myself, but it's way more manageable.

If you can afford it, then why not? It saves time and it's nice coming home to a clean house. I'd have her come more days a week if I had the money.

@pippigirl The "xxx-only" options are usually there to support those groups that are not privileged.

Like in this case, if it's easier for men than women to acquire their independence (for whatever reason) then they don't need the extra help ;)

Hmm, it's funny because around here you don't need to have a bath tub but you definitely need to have a bidet to make a full bath. Not having one can actually put a dent on the value of your house (as my family learned the hard way)

Ok, I agree that they did change the floor, painted the walls and added a backsplash... but the light fixtures are the same, I don't know what you're talking about.

Either way, it's a great transformation!

Hmm, I have a set of chairs that are quite similar to the one in the first picture here. However, instead of being decoratively painted They have intricate, floral wood carvings (that make them a bit uncomfortable to sit on, in my opinion)

I've been debating what to do with them since they are incredibly banged up and take up so much room!

This looks gorgeous!

Although I do get a sense that it might have taken a huge budget to buy all the beautiful furniture [that I could never afford :'( ]

I'm definitely painting the pantry door (or side panel) with chalkboard paint for grocery lists and reminders. I think it's a great idea :)

@dirce79 Then you would also have to explain to the homeowner association why you are running a business in a building were it's not allowed (my case).

I worked from home and had to deal with loud noises from other neighbors but I was smart enough to understand that, hey, that's the exception. And there are noise regulation laws for the night hours for a reason.

But thanks for insulting a random commenter, it must be awful being so uptight and entitled. You must need to vent.

My dogs bark when I come to my house or if they hear a loud noise, but quiet down immediately. They also sleep through the night like logs. So yes, they do make some noise, but never cost anyone any sleep.

Somehow, in my previous building, this was way worse than: people having parties with loud screaming and music 2/3 nights of the week (plus weekends), stinking up the halls with pot, leaving empty beer bottles on the stair landing and throwing lit cigarette butts not only on my lawn but INTO my house (I guess they were playing bulls-eye with my windows). Oh, and the stairway was the kiddie playground/babysitter, and these kids were loud -one of them sounded possessed.

I moved out when one of them threatened to kill my cat.

@magnetism Even if it's in the Southern Hemisphere it will still be cold during the Winter and hot during the Summer because they are, you know, not during the same months as in the Northern Hemisphere.

I can't.

Maybe it's time for everyone to agree that AT entry titles are always terrible and start judging apartments/houses on how they actually look?

Like this one. It's charming and has a lot of character. I used to have bold colored walls in my house but I grew tired of them and I'm now tempted to go this way: white/neutral walls and colorful accents. You don't need to re-paint a room if you need a quick change!

(Also, I may want a Keep Calm poster now just to drive people off the deep end.)

LOL There's always the judgey person saying wood should NEVER be painted ever. Who cares about personal taste, right rahskir?

Personally, I prefer a bright kitchen. It makes me want to cook in it and eat what's been prepared there.

Great job on this one! It looks so inviting.

I made a point of getting to know my neighbours and I would definitely open the door for them after seeing them through my peephole. (Just for reference, I'm not in the US)

Years ago all buzzers were removed from apartment buildings because burglars would get buzzed in, make you run down to answer and then burglarize your and others' apartments.

My apartment opens out to two indoor patios -hard to access from the outside- and I have no bars or locks on those windows and doors. So no, I'm not paranoid. I would still not open my door to a stranger because I find it incredibly rude and annoying to bother someone in the comfort of their home. I would obviously call 911 if they were in trouble and, depending on the circumstances, probably open the door. After all, it would probably be a neighbour from inside my own building.

I really like this room!

It's everything I believe a bedroom should be: It's to the owner's liking (most important thing) and it's not too cluttered or has a bajillion bright colors to drive you insane. I bet you can crawl into bed and feel super comfy and calm.

Nice job!

Love this idea!

I might use it to cover my fuse box, which was there when I bought the house and doesn't need air around it - I see that this is very important.

Oh, and that is such a cute kitty!

I've been coming to the site for inspiration and I never really noticed the comments could be so snarky and rude. I guess the more beautiful the apartment, the uglier the person. And I do mean ugly on the inside, don't get your panties in a bunch.

Seriously, I think it's a very cute kitchen and those shelves look great.

I've lived in my current apartment for almost three years, the third apartment in 5 years actually. Before that we never really moved a lot. We just never quite found home, so we just got fed up and moved (and no renting!).

Now I'm "stuck" here but my sister recently moved out leaving me as a single dweller, and I'm on the process of making it my own. And thanks to AT, I think I just might succeed!
