Re: that joke, I had never heard it and had to dig and dig to find it online. Turns out it is racist and totally unprintable. And now I will never read the new AT:Nursery blog name without thinking of it! Ugh.

Z has two so far and we are getting a third for her birthday next month. We're also buying them for cousins for Christmas. We recently reviewed them, with some criticisms, on ZRecs.

Wow - I literally shuddered when I saw this. I haven't had such a visceral response to an item of decor since I can't remember when!

We love our SIGG and our Klean Kanteen! We just published hands-on reviews of both brands, and of Thermos Foogo cups, BornFree toddler cups, and a couple of other plastic cup manufacturers who use non-polycarbonate plastic. (The focus of our interest is on protecting kids from Bisphenol-A and other potentially harmful plastic additives.)

We had our toddler use each of the seven cups over the course of a couple of weeks, and document all the pros and cons of each. We even did drop tests (sigh - a lot of sad denting going on) and leak tests. You can read our "Sippy Cup Showdown" here (sorry for the long link line):

Wow, this does bring back memories. With that and an Easy-Bake Oven, who needs parents?

You can also make your own syrup:

2 T. fresh lemon juice
1 cup orange juice concentrate
1 T. honey

Not something I'd do, although I celebrate the impulse. Looks okay if you don't know a kid didn't do it, but when I learned that the parents did this for an infant's nursery, it just started to look eerie. If they raise a famous artist I'll recant.

We're giving away Diaper Valet diaper bags to moms in need on Z Recommends today until 12:00 PST. Suggest a charitable organization serving mothers in your area and they will be entered to win 5 Diaper Valets to hand out to their clients.

Anyone who suggests an organization will also be entered to win one of two fully-decked-out Diaper Valets themselves! It's a great chance to win a gorgeous diaper clutch and to help out other mothers in your community.

Here's a link to the drawing, to our video-enhanced review of the Diaper Valet, to AT:Nursery's review, and to the Diaper Valet website.

I would be concerned that a door-mounted bar, while able to hold a given amount of weight, would not be able to withstand the force of motion involved in swinging that weight like a pendulum. I was never good in physics class, but swinging is certainly a different proposition than the weight just hanging on the bar!
