This looks familiar... Looks like a Shu Uemura cosmetics environment design by Oshima Studio... http://www.aredesignawards.com/award_winner_detail.cfm?key=2007579

Works for a retail environment, not my style personally for a house.

It seems this sort of thing is for a big suburban house... two extra chairs take up a lot of space when you're living small. I'd go with a low
shelf with bowl holes... use the space below to hold leashes and doggie poo bags.

Yup.. fill the tub with water. Also, if silicone was used previously, you must ensure that ALL of the silicone caulking is removed as nothing will stick to it.
Never heard of the ice cube trick.. a wet finger works just fine and you can feel how the spread is going (even, uneven).

Trunki was great for my kidlet: he could use as a push-toy, roll on it, pull it, sit on it, be pulled on it... ours held up to some serious abuse.

Also, AquaDraw (travel) (no crayons or markers!), a blanket, wipes and headphones.

HEADPHONES! Big soft things that stay on their heads. In-flight entertainment has all kinds of kids' shows; as we don't watch at home, in-flight television keeps my boy rapt and I can read a book. :)

clean, frameless glass mirror doors (2) with push-releases hardware for opening. they would open up the walkway, hide your stuff and bounce the light around. there is nothing as wonderfully neutral, modern and timeless as mirrors.

good luck!

What Should I Do with This Built-In Shelving? Good Questions

Man.
First tip: eat what healthy, timely food you want. If the youngun is not liking it, well, that's too bad. Dinner is dinner. Picky eaters are created by being accomodated. Your child will not starve and will ultimately benefit from seeing/eating new foods.

Second tip: rules at dinner: the old, 'you get what you get and you dont' get upset' works as does the 'we try everything on our plates.'.. add to that, 'every day your taste buds are growing and what you like changes' (so try this tomato ;) )

Third tip: have the youngun help in the kitchen; pick the vegetable for the meal, help chop/ break veg sticks, mix the salad. lots of good food gets eaten this way, too.

Good luck!

I am a Toronto resident, too, and bike to the market with my family early Saturday mornings: pastries, fine meats, superb cheeses, (samples), fab local veg in the North Building, fab organics in the basement, crowds of locals, musicans (the string quartet is rediculous) that seem to migrate weekly, outdoor picnic benches on the upper floor that skirt the building...
It's a colourful, vibrant market.
True, it's not for the 'supermarketer' or for someone in a hurry who craves ultimate convenience (many people in the city) , but for those looking for an experience with their weekly shop: the St. Lawrence is great.

But then you are lying in a thin puddle of dirty water. Gyik. (says me). Looks pretty in a floaty-sci-fi way at any rate.

I'm with @thicket; what may be cosy to some may be oppressively stuffy to others (especially on the top bunk).

Not going to be the last person to mention the hazards of vinyl off-gassing. Please don't put my kids on top of a new shower curtain. The lovely fumes of Sharpies would be a fitting accompaniment to the stank. And permanent markers won't come off of kitchen cabinetry.

This can also be done with multiple strips from a big roll of craft paper (back-taped at the seams) and water-based markers. A great idea, but let's not hurt our kidlets in the process.

Check for good water pressure: your morning shower should not equate to ancient chinese water torture.

Keep a shammy in the shower... wipe down any potentially spotty surfaces and corners before each time before you get out of the shower. done and done.

Oh, boy: so no.
Nice idea, but the 'letters' are poorly formed from a font perspective and when mashed together to force a piece of furniture don't look good/comfortable/useful (qualifiers for furniture).

My folks let my brother and I paint our rooms when we reached about 14 & 16 yrs old. A mighty trip to the paint store got us any colours we wanted. My brother painted his whole door a realistic blue and cloud sky, had quotes from friends and life all over one wall and a kooky black/white op-art grid... I had my friends each contribute a handprint in their favourite colour on one wall, and used my dad's old converse sneakers to paint footprints from the door, across the ceiling and out the window, another wall sported a bulls-eye painted above my clothing hamper (tossing balls of socks was pretty fun). Each wall was a different canvas.
It was awesome and liberating and fostered confidence in our growing sense of self and creativity.
This could have been one of the early bricks on the road to our careers as Designers ... :) good times.
