I never took typing because I didn't have room for it in my HS schedule (too many science and music classes). I cannot type without looking at the keys and I make tons of mistakes even then. No one laughs at me or, frankly, even notices, and I supervise a team of nine at a Fortune 100 company. So....

Just to be clear: the Michaelangelo is not tension mounted. Two separate thoughts, one person incapable to communicating coherently on her phone.

I wrote about our experience with multiple bicycles here this time last year:

I have used and do not like that silver rack with red trim. It's flimsy and not big enough for taller person bikes. Anything tension-mounted between floor and ceiling risks falling if the structure shifts at all (a BIG risk in old NYC buildings.)

Now that we live in an apartment that, for NYC at least, provides amenities above & beyond what you'd normally find in our price range, these are the things we'd refuse to live without if we ever move:
- washer & dryer in the unit
- decent kitchen: space for storage and food prep, space for a dining table for entertaining
- pet friendly
- multiple closets

To echo the "register for only what you need" comment: think about your lifestyle. Do either of you love to cook? No? Chances are, all the gadgets and fancy cookware is going to go unused. But do you like to entertain? Maybe serving pieces, glassware, and the like make more sense. Moving to a new place together looking to buy a house? Gift cards to furniture and appliance stores.

On the other hand, it is a good time to upgrade on necessities like sheets and towels.

In an ideal world, your guests will take what they know about you (especially if you communicate as much through wedding website or familial channels) and be creative, especially if you are more established and not in need of basics. Wine lovers? How about gift certificates to a favorite wine shop or subscription service for favorite wineries. Theater/opera/music/sports lovers? Maybe some tickets.

We went the opposite route and requested no gifts (we're older & have what we need, and the event is small and informal). The big day is yet to happen so I don't know how that will play out.

CHLOESF: Another trick is equal parts Dawn and hydrogen peroxide for fabrics where wine has soaked in. Best for less delicate or washable fabrics, but I've used it on upholstered furniture with success.

Forgot to add that I used to have that stand in the second photo--the silver one with the red arms. I do not recommend it. The arms are very unstable and you may not be able to get enough distance between top & bottom bike if at least one of your bikes belongs to a tall person.

We have, no joke, six bikes in our living space (open living room & dining room).

We use these stands (x3) because they are very sturdy, fit well against the wall, have adjustable arm height & bike hooks along said arms (to hang further/closer to wall). No damage to walls & no worrying that a hook will come loose. My boyfriend is 6'8" so his bikes are much larger than mine and we've had no trouble making them fit.

I posted an example of two of the bikes on a stand the last time this subject came up:

Our shepherd mutt likes our bed and camps out there during the day when we're not there to scold her. Forgive me for being gross for a second though pet owners will probably know what I mean, but the dried eye boogers, slobber, paw marks, and butt stains (yes, I went there) are unavoidable and so at least the place where she spends so much of her time can be machine washed! Thank you well-made Pottery Barn bedspread.

P.S. 00tester, that photo is killing me.

An easel might work in the LR but this just seems in the way. I would no doubt trip or bang my knee in the middle of the night or early morning en route to coffee. Besides, even if you're cool with a tv in the bedroom, I don't think anyone wants it as the focal point.

It looks like it's supposed to roll around so maybe you could move it out of the way but maneuverability looks limited based on the cables going under the bed.

I like the rest of the apartment, though!

Our major source of bedroom clutter relates to what to do with clothes that aren't done being worn. While it's fine to put jeans and sweaters back in the closest in between washings/cleanings (although we're not so good at doing that), we also wear a lot of wool base layers for bicycle commuting in colder weather. It doesn't seem right to put them away after wearing them but it doesn't make sense to wash them every time they get worn.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been Googling blankets for weeks and finding only boring variations on the Crate & Barrel or Overstock-type offerings.

We have five (!) bicycles in our Brooklyn apartment. We have a large-ish, open living & dining area, which makes it easier but, still, that's a lot of bikes. I think we manage to keep them out of the way and not the focal point of the space.

Here's one photo of two of the bikes integrated into the space:

Here are the bike stands we use, which are sturdy and, relatively speaking, inconspicuous (especially against a brick wall):
