It is... austere. Pared down to an extreme that most people, myself included, could not live in. As others have said, really good basics, just needs a layer of softness, warmth, and personal touches.

I usually have Tuesdays and Sundays (after about 12 years of always working both weekend days) and I do celebrate those days with a special breakfast. Rather than my cold cereal or oatmeal, fruit, and a single cup of coffee, I indulge myself with waffles, omelets, fresh baked muffins and a whole pot of coffee.

In as much as slate has been used for roofing for centuries, I can see why using it for an outdoor tabletop should pose an issue. One could keep it covered with a proper cover when not in use to extend it's life.

I find myself doing, most recently watched Girls first season. I don't usually watch a hole season in one sitting, but 3 or 4 episodes at once. As for the whole "Opening sequence/song" burnout thing, most DVDs chapters are edited so you can skip it.

Livingetc. Other mags try, but don't succeed at being both aspirational and accessible. Yes, it is a UK shelter magazine, but they have become much more international in the homes they feature.

I'd say all of the colors that Chelsea likes for this piece would look awesome. Deciding on which one would be based more on where she would use it and with what other furniture and textiles.

I'd go with something that plays to all the styles you're working with, industrial, modern, Victorian. Something like the Clemson or Benson pendnants from Restoration Hardware. If you wanted to go a little more modern, maybe an elliptical Sputnik or the Antique Metal Drum pendant also from RH.

If you are wanting to hang drapery, I'd suggest a track style system like Umbra's glide track, or IKEA's KVARTEL. Both of these can be ceiling mounted without a gap at the top the way a traditional rod would have when mounted from the ceiling.
