Hot dang, I'm old and poor! Good thing I'm happy.

Your home is beautiful. Looks like a wonderful place to come home to.

She may have only lived here for 7 months but I'm pretty sure she has been gathering her home for years.

I almost feel as if I have gotten a glimpse of my daughter in the future. She is currently only 17 but there is something in the apartment and the owner... even with how she interpreted and answered the questions. Kinda freaky.

Absolutely amazing. Amazing workmanship, amazing that the kitchen & bathrooms weren't "modernized" through the years, amazing that it is in such great condition. I love how you embraced what the house is and included who you are.

I have never both liked and disliked a place so much. I was struggling with how I felt until I read Ducibella's comment which sums my reaction perfectly:

"It's very beautiful in an overwhelmingly sad and gloomy way. Is it the dark wood? The heavy wood ceilings? The quality of the light?"

I know it isn't the purpose of the post but... The first picture shows a simple, utilitarian, multi-functional, do-it-yourself pot rack that I could see doing.

What a wonderful kitchen! Left me drooling and dreaming.

I love the look of the upper cabinets but I am left with visions pushing something off the back when I put dishes away. Any stops in place to prevent that? I personally would end up going through way too many wine glasses, plates, etc. if there wasn't anything.

According to Blandwagon I must be a homeless crank at heart because I really like your outdoor space. Looks like a great place to kick back with friends.

House Call

Our last move was v-e-r-y slow, due to circumstance. Our family of 4 was in a one bedroom apartment temporarily while finding a house so most of our stuff went to storage. When we moved in to our house we only moved into the bedrooms due to having work done on the main floor. When the whole house was available my husband was working 100 hrs a week and I was working and going to grad school full time. We grabbed the basics and left the rest in storage. Not bringing everything in and settling helped us discover what we were missing and what we didn't even think about. While the storage is now empty, many things never came in the house.

I was wondering the same as clank1936. While I would never purchase a bed this expensive it would be easier to justify that than a brand new car with the right name and all the bells and whistles. My back is much more important than the impression I make driving to the store

Hear! Hear! for the call to always include and exterior picture. (and a floor plan)

Wonderful home. I was amazed at the condition of the vintage bathroom considering that the house had been abandoned. I'm curious as to whether it needed work?

Pyrexmaniac -- It's a stuffed animal. You know, the kind bought in toy stores. The "taxidermy" squirrel is as real as the "taxidermy" fox by the lamp on the nightstand.

While I have no illusions or desires to aspire to this loft I did enjoy looking at it. I really liked the doors to the bedrooms and the living area right outside of them.

Thanks for the tour.

I can relate to Satan's "make your own damn dinner" We occasionally will have "scrounge night", yes, we do it often enough that it has a name. I see some interesting combos on those nights. My 13 year old usually has pickles involved somehow, my 16 year old has carbs of some sort and my husband's usually involves sardines. I personally can gorge on a bowl of peanut butter used to coat every bite of sliced apple.

A CL buyer want to haggle price before they have seen an item is similar to a someone showing up to a garage sale before it is open and asking you to reduce a price.

@elecat: I put your name on the first post because I was supporting your stance on liking the mirror. In reality my post was addressing the haters... sorry I involved you.

@elecat: I don't understand the hatred of the mirrored bathroom walls. We have two bathrooms in our home with mirrored wall. (Already there when purchased so I'm not defending my own design choice) They are immensely practical since each of them have two people using them at the same time on a daily basis. In my mind, practicality makes much more sense in a bathroom. Honestly, I think toilets are the ugliest thing ever and detract from the overall design of the room but that doesn't mean I would rid my bathroom of one.

Your house is lovely. It feels homey and welcoming. Like others, I love your kitchen.

Question: Are there any supports on the bar side of your island? If so, how many? I've been wanting to do something similar but have visions of the butcher block breaking apart. (teens leaning on bar, etc.)

Quite envious of your entry/mud room. Kudos for investing in the future. Doing those things don't always have the same show off element. "Come see my newly insulated walls" But have a bigger impact on our world.
