I love RPS! Beth gets the best fabric and supplies.

This is a great pop of pink, without going overboard.

I did my son's room in grey, orange, and blue about 18 mos ago...and I'm Megan, too. And Oliver was the #2 name on our list! Wild. LOVE the colors in your room, too.

Well, I won't be reading any more, unfortunately. I had/have Ohdeedoh and Kitchn in my blog reader because I only want to hear about food and baby/child stuff. I'd be fine going to the main site if there was still a single tab sending me to the formerly-Ohdeedoh posts, but I really don't have time to hop around searching for the stuff I want. Sorry you worked so hard, but I think this was a BIG mistake.

Ham and homemade egg noodles or gnocchi with red sauce. My husband is Italian and we are both traditional :)

We do the divvying the same way as you! My husband can be quite greedy with food. You'd think he was raised in a Russian orphanage! So we developed the same plan over the years. Of course, now I encourage him to make my serving about 1/3 the size of his because he's still a pig and I was getting really fat because I can't stand to waste.

We have the Eurobath from my older daughter. It's great, but obnoxiously big. I don't think we'll use it again for the new baby when he gets to that point. I like the looks of the Boon collapsible tub, though!

A warning for parents - putting cable reels (that big wooden spool-like thing in the first picture) in your yard can be dangerous. We had these growing up because my dad could get them from work. It's how I managed to break my shoulder. I didn't fall off a big one - I had a small one (the same size as in this picture) turned on its side and would roll it across the yard, standing, with my feet. Keep them held down (like how this one is buried in sand) or don't have them at all.

I have to admit I would totally buy it. If for no other reason than our kitchen sink is 1) always messy and I hate cleaning a sink AND a baby...bath time would never happen that way and 2) our bathroom is really cramped, so bending over to bathe the baby in the tub is *really* painful. This would be fantastically helpful to set up in the half-bath.

I wouldn't use the changer part, but would use this after the baby outgrew it to bathe our small dog. A great way to keep dog hair out of our bath tub (which requires cleaning then and is why the dog rarely gets bathed).

That said, I couldn't pay more than $50 for it and would really be looking more at $25-30.

We have these cards for my daughter's room. We've had them for 3 yrs and still don't know how to display them. How were these mounted and put on the wall?

Umm...there's controversy over whether cupcakes are "in or out"?! They are cupcakes. They've been "in" since the first I ate as a kid. For real - no matter how trendy cupcakes get, they will never be only a trend and will always be IN (my belly) ;)

Does that last picture have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire in the background? It looks more like a set-up to make a mojito with the gin and mint in the picture!

I've been pretty lucky with ours - we squeeze them out really well after every bath and they haven't gotten moldy in the year we've been using them. I had one get moldy within about a month of use and tried bleaching out the inside. It worked, but I used straight bleach and let it sit in various positions (with tape over the holes so it couldn't come out) for DAYS. Then I rinsed really well and finished up with rubbing alcohol (so it would all evaporate). In the end, it wasn't worth it because that same toy got moldy again, no matter how much I squeezed and I tossed it the next time.

Yay! You answered the question I submitted (entry-level DSLRs) so fabulously. I'd really love to get back into photography, but lack time and a darkroom these days. Can't wait to look into these cameras!

I've been there and my response is this:

While I really appreciate your gracious intentions, we do NOT want a dishwasher. We have told you we have no space for a dishwasher and having one would be a burden, not a gift. Please understand that we would not be able to accept this gift if you go forward with the purchase.

Now, in my case, it was artwork for my daughter's room that matched neither the color scheme nor the theme of the room. She "gifted" this artwork onto us anyway. She hounds me about why it's still in the box. I just tell her "I told you it wouldn't fit in the room and I didn't want it, but you gave it anyway. A gift should not be a burden and it is none of the gifter's business what the giftee does with a gifted item. Ask Miss Manners."

We have a good relationship, but there's a point when parents (especially mothers) must realize that they can no longer control their child's decisions.

I'd love to get a recommendation on a couple DSLRs in the lower price ranges. I'd like to step-up from a point-n-shoot and have experience with a nice film SLR. I don't need a super professional DSLR, but want something where I can manually control f-stops and apertures, etc.

I was talking with some women this weekend about the subject. The best idea I heard is that each kid gets an art portfolio and/or box and you have *them* decide what to keep, but they can only keep one thing per drawing day or, perhaps one piece a month once they are school-aged. Basically, you set a limit of what you can physically manage to keep and let them choose the pieces they loved most. Then it's not just about preserving a piece of artwork, but also their artistic eye from a certain period of time.
