@ABBYGRAYKIT, the geometric painting was purchased several years ago at a local junk shop. We weren't even sure why it was there -- it's definitely not junk -- which is why we quickly took it home with us. I wish I had more information about it! The sun and moon aren't as creepy in person, since they are needlepoint, they take on a softer feeling. Funny though!

@JUDIAU, too funny, I was TOTALLY there with you about the animal head thing. And I was even unsure when I ordered it, thinking I might very well return the thing. But then it arrived and its colors are much more muted than I originally though and it's relatively small, so it's not as "giant animal head scary" as I initially wondered.

Thanks, everyone! Landis, the writer, here.

Definitely sounds like each kiddo is different! I guess I could've imagined that, but it's good to hear. We've been gifted a few things and then we bought the nursery items I blogged last week (which many of you had opinions about :) but that's it. I'll definitely take my time and test things out before buying, borrowing from friends etc. AND I'll leave our monitor in its packaging until we are sure we'll use it. If we don't (we live in a small home, too), I'll definitely return it.

Any other opinions, keep 'em coming!

@JAMIESON and @HINMELB, Landis, the writer, here. Sorry I've not chimed in yet. I took the image, which is why it's credited to me...

BUT the wooden boats are adorable (also bath toys) and can be purchased from Tweet Toys on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TweetToys

Enjoy!

@JUDIAU, it is the Ikea Gulliver that I've not heard such great things about. The board on the bottom of the crib (that the mattress rests on) is starting to bend/buckle. Has this not happened to yours?

Oh, goodness, where to begin. Landis the writer here.

We actually already own two EKTORP couches in our home, in lower traffic areas and we've had them for over two years. They've held up perfectly and we plan on adding this chair to one of those spaces when it no longer needs to be in the nursery. So, that's more about the logic behind that decision.

About the crib. I spoke with several friends who purchased cribs from IKEA and not one of them would ever recommend it, ever. Several are about to replace their cribs and their babies are both just over a year. Not a sound investment. If you wish to call the Oeuf crib eye candy, @JUDIAU, then so be it. It is, but there are also many accounts of this crib lasting through 2 and 3 children, something we hope we're blessed with.

The RIBBA frames...next time you folks need to hang these, head to Home Depot for a picture hanging kit...makes the job MUCH easier!

Other questions...bring 'em on! Thanks for reading :)

@HOLIDAY05, yup looking for heirloom quality, even in a small nursery. I'd love pieces that are transitional and quality, pieces -- especially a dresser -- that can grow with our child as he grows. Just as you suggested a dresser that can double as a changing table, etc. About the chair, it would be great to purchase something we can one day use elsewhere in our home, even if on our three season porch or in our living room. And not to mention, we'd love to have more than one child if we're so lucky, so pieces that can withstand additional babies.

Just throwing this out there -- but there's got to be some kind of nasty chemical that goes into lucite furniture, right? I say NAY!

@petworthy, I agree with you...your comment is a bit snotty, but it's your opinion. We're all entitled.

In the post's defense, when I'm rarely in market for such a good and I find something that fits my need as well as being responsibly made and multi-functional, I'm going to jump all over it. I'm sorry you don't find it as interesting.

@Bugis, that's definitely a great strategy moving forward! We haven't been purchasing tons of books since this project began but we have so many books from our college and grad school days that we just don't want to part with. I'm realizing we're just not the types who can pare back to one bookshelf. But, you're right, we can control our purchases moving forward!

@PhotobugLA, I'm SO sorry to hear this. We can totally help you! I just clicked over to your profile to see if you have listed your contact but no dice. Email me at landis@apartmenttherapy.com and we'll figure out a few solutions for you! I can even call my expert organizer to get her thoughts!

Loving the comments here!

@Sam I Am: My comment, "overall it might be a better alternative to Ikea furniture," for some it might. For me, no, it's not. We have a few Ikea pieces in our home that we love, and we don't treat them as throwaway pieces. But for those who might intend to only keep their Ikea side table for a year, perhaps try cardboard or vintage!

@heatherrenae, HADN'T THOUGHT OF THE ROACH FACTOR and now I'm completely grossed out!

@Jaguar1211, I'm loving your gut reaction to this stuff! Good to know what you like and what you don't, right?

While I don't love the site's redesign, there is something about how their photography now brilliantly pops against that dark background. Anyone else agree?

And that banner ad covering their ribbon logo, that's just poor planning.

Redesigning takes guts, right? So, cheers to that!

@Emmi, ceramic materials can be bought throughout the country and most are produced domestically. I am a potter and know this from experience.

Now regarding your first comment. I will look into this BUT I will say purchasing from this independent producer is a better option, even if the timber is scrap (headed for the landfill), than buying from a mass-produced resource where shipping impacts worldwide are not considered. I could go on and on.

These pieces were chosen for not only being handmade but also for their beauty. These crafters stood head and shoulders above the other handmade goods I culled through.

I hope we can all appreciate their artistry.

@chillrepute, that's a GREAT question...permeable and shovel-able? I'll do some searching and will follow-up with another post about this next week. When I put together these images, I was really thinking about outdoor patio and garden living, but if you're in the market for a new driveway and live where it snows, this is absolutely a conundrum.

I just read through everyone's comments. You guys are the BEST! Thank you for the encouragement, as always. About the China paintings...they're gone :( I might miss them as time passes, and if I do, I'll be sure to write a post about it.

I'm SO interested in hearing from those of you who have followed along and purged unwanted items as well. Write to me about your experience at landis@apartmenttherapy.com
