Um, I still love unicorns, but I've channeled my love into more subtle things (like a vintage quilt with teeeny unicorn prints and a smallish figurine tucked away in the kitchen. No one would ever notice, but it makes me happy. How To: Decorate with Unicorns |

I really hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but I LOVE how the proportions of this room and its furniture are totally wacky. It seems like it would make you laugh all the time. But it would also make you feel like really small--like the room practically swallows you in cozy. Jacquelyn's Bold Turquoise Bedroom My Bedroom Retreat Contest |

I agree with classic, but I want to add an additional reasoning. I can only see a few background pieces, but if this picture was taken in your house, it looks to me like you have sort of a classic/country style going on. A bold, contemporary fabric like the one you've showed us in the picture of the gutted settee just doesn't look like it would complement the rest of the items in that photo. I agree with home body. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I think that in my life there is some truth to it. I don't have bad self esteem because I don't have a nice rug in my living room, but I do *stress* and even obsess over it. It is an outlet for control for me, and I do spend more money and time than I should thinking about the layout and objects in my apartment. All of this is under the guise of making my home a more comfortable haven, and it is actually growing farther from that. Rather than being an escape from arenas where I constantly have to improve, it has become one of those arenas. Decorating Your Home: Hobby or Unhealthy Obsession? |

I think the first comment has the most potential. I have separated a same-room dining and living area with a couch and really appreciated the space separation. The pouf (or maybe a pair of poufs?) would adjoin the reading chair to the rest of the living room if you had guests, or could be a nice perch to sip coffee and look out the window on.
