I've been standing while working for 3 weeks now and feel a lot better at the end of the day. My neck, shoulder, wrist, and hand pain have all but disappeared. I started out with a set up similar to Cambria Bold's and found it to be near perfect for me. Creating a more permanent set up cost about $40 at Home Depot. I have more energy at the end of the day, sleep better at night, and noticed a slight weight loss along with slightly increased core strength.

I found a small dutch oven with a lid that doubles as a frying pan at the local World Market last year. It's the perfect size for making one or two servings, as well as baking anything from meatloaf to cobbler.

An unexpected call can be nice if it's from someone you really want to talk to. Most of the time I'd rather schedule a time to talk so I can give my full attention to the other person. People who call just to chat are annoying as they generally have little to say. I understand that they may be feeling lonely or just self-important, but I don't often have the time to indulge them.

I love to write and read letters/emails/texts and would prefer communicating that way. In each of those you can keep a permanent record of the conversation and go back to enjoy it over and over again. Unless you record every call, you can't do that with a phone conversation.

I bought a bagless after my last cleaner wore out. I regret it cause it is so difficult to empty and clean the filter. Fortunately I only vaccuum once a month. I also have a manual carpet sweeper that I use a couple times a week. It is much easier to use in my small space which only houses me and a few tiny spiders - the perfect, self-maintaining, non-pet pet.

@Chronosynclastic: You are right about the neutralizing effect. I use creme' of tartar as a cleaner for my copper cook wear and it works great as a paste in cleaning off metal baking dishes. It seems to work better than baking soda. It does cost more but it cleans better and I use less of it than baking soda.

I use a woven dragon grass, hand-woven mat bought on clearance at a Pier 1 over 20 years ago. It doesn't mildew and just needs to be shaken out a couple times a month. It feels really good stepping out of the shower - like a quick foot massage. I got the idea from the one that had been at my front door for almost five years. Both are still in great condition and wouldn't give them up for anything.

I have wallpapered using fabric and liquid starch before. Not sure about the product mentioned in the link but do a test first. I've found that some fabric colors can bleed through. As a renter this could mean you're stuck paying for a repaint.

The real problem with standard desks is they are designed for men of an average height of 5'10". This is really bad for women as most are an average height of 5'4" to 5'6" and have shorter torsos. That is why women suffer more shoulder and neck pain, and carpel tunnel injuries on the job.

I download ebooks and audio books from the library. Both are more convenient when stuck waiting somewhere or working out. But the physical book is still my favorite way to read. Reading isn't just a mental exercise, it can also have a tactile response. There is something about the weight of a book that makes me value to words of a great author, or morn the loss of trees due to a bad one.

I'm going the DIY route to use up a collection of papers and blank journals. A wall calendar just to keep up with the basic (date, appointments); a day planner for more detail as needed and journal; my BB phone for reminders. My life is very simple so I don't have to schedule everything.

There are products to repair this. Check with a local upholstery or leather goods shop. We have a local shop that stores furs in the summer and they also care for leather apparel; including doing repairs.

My favorite picture is of Gracie's chair. The scratches and dings show that what really matters are the people and pets. That's a real home.

Twenty-three years ago my kitten tried to climb the tree and pulled it over on top of her. It killed her. I've not had a tree since.

Lowes also carries the Optimus 14" for $59.97 which comes with a free 9" dish heater for personal use. It would come in handy at the office.

Duvet only for most of the 80's. Now I feel smothered under all that bulk. Top sheet only in the summer and an added blanket or two for the winter.

I used to travel to the mountains of NC a lot to hike. My favorite place to stay was a small family owned motel. For $25 a night I got a room with a really nice bed and shower. That was all I needed. I've never found a more comfortable place to stay anywhere else.
