Wonderful- absolutely love it! What is the gray used in the bedroom? I'm redoing my entry and have been searching for the perfect dramatic gray - this is certainly it!

At first glance and a good distance, the dining room light does look a bit like your $2 dorm room version. But closer, and in person, the differences in quality and light between said cheapo and Noguchi are remarkable and the latter is well worth the extra, if budget allows.
Love love love the tiled bathroom and the kitchen - is the wall actual wood, a paneling or a veneer/paper?

I have worked with both Herman Miller and Knoll and am currently working with "Inspired" design. First of all, HM & Knoll are hardly evil corporations (read "Business as Unusual" or "Herman Miller: The Purpose of Design"). These are relatively small, successful US companies - in this day and age, shouldn't we all be supportive of that? Additionally, the quality of authentic design versus knock-offs is staggering. I own several authentic pieces and I purchased them with the intent of owning them for a lifetime, possibly passing them on to future generations. Their quality is such that this will be possible. The "inspired" design I currently work with is riddled with problems- faulty manufacturing, poor craftsmanship, missing parts, cheap materials. These are pieces destined for the dumpster, not an antiques shop.
I think that the heart of this debate is our consumer society's desire for instant gratification: We like, we want now. We can't afford, so we settle for whatever pleases our itch instantly. Then we move on to our next desire.
I still believe there is something about working for what you want. There's just something special about scrapping and saving and earning the real thing and then enjoying it for a lifetime with a clear conscience. Or getting lucky and finding vintage. That would be the sweetest score of all.

This is perfection. What a wonderful collection of beautiful furniture, rugs and art. What a divine harmony of classic and modern. It is so nice to see a space that truly melds together, not just a collection of pieces. Bravo!

Umm, the word "hygge" is distinctly Danish. And no, one usually doesn't scream it. Also, though born in Italy, Harry Bertoia is generally considered an American designer and his designs are manufactured by an American firm in the United States (Knoll), so I am confused as to why those chairs are screaming Italian. Too much screaming going on for such a cute little house. I like what I see, would love to see more.

According to this post, a room can only be public or private, warm or cool. What about a balance of both and choosing the colors you love to create an environment that reflects you? My living room is a cool grey, with cool browns, taupes and darker grey furniture. To place cool colors into this mix would be bleak and depressing. Instead, I have bright white trim, lime green plants and a bold orange bookcase/tv console. The space is cool and sophisticated, with just the right amount of quirkiness, much like me!
