I did this when I first moved to San Francisco over 16 years ago. My first apartment, which was a whopping 300 square foot studio, overlooked a busy street and was too noisy. I moved to a slightly larger studio in the back of the building, which stopped the road noise but didn't stop the elderly woman who lived above me and liked to stomp around at 6 am, even on the weekends. I moved one floor up and into a larger studio which had the biggest floor plan with a meth freak who eventually got evicted above me. After that I bought a condo in a concrete building and never worried about noise again. Making a \"Small\" Move: Is It Worth It? |

Beautifully done space. People have to understand that not every House Tour is going to be their taste and may not fit their lifestyle. This condo was obviously decorated in a way that suits a single grown woman, not a family with young kids and/or pets. There's nothing wrong with that! If you need to take a break and your rollers are full of paint, put them in a gallon sized ziploc bag. It will seal out the air and keep the roller from drying out. No need to wash out the roller. Real Life Lessons from a First-Time Painter |

A resounding YES on a new toilet seat. Even if it looks clean, I still purchase a new one because you just never know what kind of germs might be hanging around. They're less than $15 and well worth the investment. How to Make it Yours: The First Things to Do in a New Home |

I've been rolling my t-shirts in my dresser drawers for years. I do this for short sleeved and long sleeved shirts. It works perfectly, the shirts do not get wrinkled, and you can always see what you have without having to dig through a pile. Plus you can fit more shirts in drawers this way. I really love the backsplash and countertops. Really great effort. I would have gone with silver or grey-toned cabinet hardware -- the gold seems to clash with the appliances and overall color scheme. The World's Ugliest Condo: The Big Reveal Renovation Before & After |

Don't forget to check out eBay. I got $80 Pottery Barn blackout drapes for $12.50 apiece because someone had moved into a new home and she didn't want the drapes that the builder had installed. I'm not sure she knew the retail value of them, she just wanted them out of her hands. I bought 10 panels from her for $125 and it would have cost me $800 plus tax if I had gone to my local Pottery Barn store. Counting Pennies? Tips & Tricks for Creating a Gorgeous Home Anyway |

I have hand washed cashmere sweaters with Woolite in the kitchen sink and I have also washed them with the gentle cycle with Woolite in the washing machine. Either way they turn out great. I lay them flat to dry on an electric drying rack which cuts down on the drying time but doesn't damage the fabric. How To: Hand Wash a Cashmere Sweater |

The styling is timeless. My Eames lounge chair and ottoman are classic and won't go out of style. I like having pieces that can stick around for a while without looking dated. Poll: What Do You Love Most about Mid-Century Modernism? |

I paid about $1.8K for my king sized mattress set by Stearns and Foster. It has a pillowtop and was on sale at Mattress Discounters (style name Chestnut Street). My previous set was about 10 years old and within 3 days of sleeping on the new set my back and hip pain was gone. What Is the Right Price for a Bed? A Year in Bed |

I have to agree that white tile begs for white grout. Whenever I see a grout color that isn't white or cream I just assume it's dirty -- not a look you're probably wanting in a kitchen. What Color Grout with New Counters & Tile? Good Questions | Apartment Therapy San Francisco#comments |
