It's encouraging to see solar being productive and produced in the US, but the numbers don't add up.

China will produce solar cells for way cheaper and easier than producing the cells in the US (because of all our heavy fines and regulations), and the production part itself in China is very very harmful to the environment when using silicon tetrachloride, literally making the air around the factories lethal. Companies have gone out of business from trying to be a self-contained US manufacturer and exporter because they didn't outsource to China. How is it that we're suddenly profiting and in a trade surplus?

Also just read that China's production and export of PV modules have also increased in the last couple years, so the numbers don't add up there either. When you look more closely, the US is leading in exporting equipment and components like polysilicon, but China is still doing a HUGE majority of the solar cell and module production for our solar companies.

The US is kinda responsible for this anyways, now exporting most of solar manufacturing to China because they do it way cheaper. Cheaper because their process of breaking down the silicon produces a toxic byproduct that is killing wildlife and literally making the air around their solar plants lethal: http://news.cnet.com/8301-11128_3-9889848-54.html.

Same goes for people who want the US to be leaders in natural gas: no one is thinking of the environmental affects.

They STILL sell those plates at CB2. They're like 3 bucks. Got one with a stickman gagging at jalapeno.

Also, maybe it's the Korean in me, but after having this high bed, I prefer being closer to the ground. For those of you who think it's tacky or cheap, I used to sleep on the floor with no mattress, just on top of a mat! Just Google Korean or Japanese bed. So yes, it can work and still be good feng shui if you do it right.

I've been debating getting rid of my bed frame and put the mattress on the floor. I am always changing my mind about many things, so I will keep my headboard with mattress and boxspring on the floor, and store away the sideboards and footboard in case I end up not liking it. I think the key things is to keep the mattress covered and don't have high furniture around it. I would love the idea of someday getting a large fur or soft blanket to drape across the whole bed and let it touch the floor....

I like to look at IKEA's website for inspiration and ideas. At their living room page (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/tools/livingroom_rooms_ideas), you see the usual frames/artwork, vases, and boxes on top. I would think white storage boxes (keep your photos up in there?) or keep your framed photos but maybe in different lighter frames. But because the bookcase is very high, maybe just some small vases, or install lights to overlook the books at night?

I love those easels. But the problem is that they don't know how much someone like me would kill for one of those to use to paint with. It's a waste to use it as TV stand decor and is probably worth way more than that TV.

I love it here in LA! I first lived in Studio City and loved it. But it wasn't until I moved over the hill to West Hollywood that I started to really enjoy walking outside to many places. I would recommend mid-city, miracle mile (I see lots of people walking cats and dogs) around Fairfax, 3rd St., Melrose, Beverly.... Lots of food, cool neighbors, and lots to walk to and you'll find a bit in that budget range. Outside of central LA, would recommend Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice, and Silverlake.

Take a look around the neighborhoods and what's in the area. I believe there's something for everyone here.

I love my memory foam pillow, but use it to lean on or rest my head on when I'm on the couch. It's too thick still for me to sleep on, so I have to use a very flat pillow. I find I sleep a lot better when my head, neck, and spine are horizontally level.

I've hosted once, and they were the best! I can see how it's different every time and probably not a good idea, but I ended up hosting these three young architects from France. They came with late at night with groceries for dinner and got me a lavender plant! The next day, they were the ones taking me around in their rental to see The Getty, Eames house, Frank Gehry homes, and other classic Hollywood designed houses. It really taught me a lot about how to be a great guest and they told me what to see for my first Europe trip and it was really helpful.

They have a good point, make them yourself? Would even look into finding a local potter who could make them and stamp the words in, paint the letters black on the white.

I did find that they use the word "fría" instead of "frío" for describing the cold water knob.

I like white subway tiles. The blue or green would go well with lighter colored countertops along with cabinets like white or a light brown/tan.

I always like little nooks too that feel like they are telling me what furniture to put there. But they can be misleading and this one seems a bit tight for the bed.

I know you want to keep it there, but like others said, I would really really encourage you to try having the bed on the opposite side of the room, headboard against the windows. The nook may be a perfect fit for a TV and reading area. And just think, you'll have all the room for two good-sized nightstands instead of tiny ones to fit in the nook.

Best of all, when you walk in the door, you will have MUCH better flow of walking in without the bed right there. I really think that once you try this simple rearrangement, you'll be able to see better the areas to work on, what colors you need, etc.
