It's encouraging to see solar being productive and produced in the US, but the numbers don't add up. Solar Industry Sees Job Growth in Struggling Economy Design News 10.25.11 |

The US is kinda responsible for this anyways, now exporting most of solar manufacturing to China because they do it way cheaper. Cheaper because their process of breaking down the silicon produces a toxic byproduct that is killing wildlife and literally making the air around their solar plants lethal: http://news.cnet.com/8301-11128_3-9889848-54.html. Also, maybe it's the Korean in me, but after having this high bed, I prefer being closer to the ground. For those of you who think it's tacky or cheap, I used to sleep on the floor with no mattress, just on top of a mat! Just Google Korean or Japanese bed. So yes, it can work and still be good feng shui if you do it right. Back to Basics: Beds on the Floor |

I've been debating getting rid of my bed frame and put the mattress on the floor. I am always changing my mind about many things, so I will keep my headboard with mattress and boxspring on the floor, and store away the sideboards and footboard in case I end up not liking it. I think the key things is to keep the mattress covered and don't have high furniture around it. I would love the idea of someday getting a large fur or soft blanket to drape across the whole bed and let it touch the floor.... Back to Basics: Beds on the Floor |

I like to look at IKEA's website for inspiration and ideas. At their living room page (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/living_room/tools/livingroom_rooms_ideas), you see the usual frames/artwork, vases, and boxes on top. I would think white storage boxes (keep your photos up in there?) or keep your framed photos but maybe in different lighter frames. But because the bookcase is very high, maybe just some small vases, or install lights to overlook the books at night? What To Put On Top Of EXPEDIT Unit? Good Questions |

I love those easels. But the problem is that they don't know how much someone like me would kill for one of those to use to paint with. It's a waste to use it as TV stand decor and is probably worth way more than that TV. A Study in Multi-Use Space |

I love it here in LA! I first lived in Studio City and loved it. But it wasn't until I moved over the hill to West Hollywood that I started to really enjoy walking outside to many places. I would recommend mid-city, miracle mile (I see lots of people walking cats and dogs) around Fairfax, 3rd St., Melrose, Beverly.... Lots of food, cool neighbors, and lots to walk to and you'll find a bit in that budget range. Outside of central LA, would recommend Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice, and Silverlake. I love my memory foam pillow, but use it to lean on or rest my head on when I'm on the couch. It's too thick still for me to sleep on, so I have to use a very flat pillow. I find I sleep a lot better when my head, neck, and spine are horizontally level. How to Pick the Right Pillow for Sleeping |

I've hosted once, and they were the best! I can see how it's different every time and probably not a good idea, but I ended up hosting these three young architects from France. They came with late at night with groceries for dinner and got me a lavender plant! The next day, they were the ones taking me around in their rental to see The Getty, Eames house, Frank Gehry homes, and other classic Hollywood designed houses. It really taught me a lot about how to be a great guest and they told me what to see for my first Europe trip and it was really helpful. Couch Surfing: Would You Allow a Stranger in Your Home? |
