I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know where I can get the shelves in the upper right of that picture?

Oh, dear. I have two:

1.) Tuna Noodle Casserole. My mother made it just once, with one of those horrible boxed kits, and it was awful. I already didn't like canned tuna, but I still won't touch the stuff. Mom looked at my little brother (who also wasn't having any of it) and told him that for every bit he ate, I had to eat one. He cleaned his plate, and it never occurred to me to argue with her. I still haven't forgiven him.

2.) Alas, I still don't like beer. I asked my dad if I could try some when I was five, and he let me. I still remember how bitter and funky it tasted, and I've never been able to get over that first taste memory, even though I know there is a whole beer world out there that I will never get to explore. Not sure how I got through college without that experience, either.

My husband had this kettle when we met, and I couldn't stand it. Every time you tried to open the spout to pour, it would pop back down and splash boiling water everywhere. We eventually had to rubber-band it open. I was relieved when we purchased a new one.

I hate most creamy white things if they're not very well mixed into something that disguises their texture, like cottage cheese, sour cream in most applications, and I have only just trained myself to enjoy homemade ricotta cheese and mayonnaise (still iffy on store-bought).

When I was little, I didn't like tomato sauce either. When I ate pizza I would peel off the cheese, scrape off the sauce, and then replace the cheese and eat it. When mom made spaghetti and meatballs she would make some meatballs without sauce and I would eat my spaghetti and meatballs covered in ketchup...

Yeah, I don't know either.

The Gold Medal Alphabakery Childrens Cookbook. I still remember the jam tarts I begged my dad to help me make. What a good sport!

For those who have a Mac, I really like YummySoup. I have almost 5000 recipes indexed on it, all sorted by category. But I'm a librarian, so that just may be an extension of the sickness. :)

I had a friend in high school who lived in a house that had been floated down the river 50 years before. It was quite a rambling old house, and I can see why the previous owners were attached to it!

I have seen one moved before, too, in Red Bank, NJ, but I can't for the life of me find any pictures!

I'm with rosebud. I leave the peel on and pit in the half that I'm not using and put a small sheet of plastic wrap on the cut surface, making sure that it touches the skin directly. Did it two days ago and ate the other half for breakfast this morning. Worked great.

Oh thank goodness, someone else who is going through this! I'm also getting married in September (congratulations, by the way), and the registry has been much more stressful than I had anticipated. Thanks so much for the tips!

Beatrix, that made me giggle very hard. Thanks. :)

I love Indian Cooking by Madhur Jaffrey. She has a Lamb Korma recipe I just can't get enough of.

I also love "It's All American Food", by David Rosengarten, which isn't authentic ethnic food, it's the Americanized versions of ethnic food. So classic Italian-American lasagna, etc.
