I've seen windows like this in other European countries. If you turn the handle up, and pull, they open just at the top. If you put it perpendicular to the window frame the whole window swings in. They are pretty nice too!

Ideally, if money were no object, it'd be nice to have a hallway run straight from the living room to the game room and move a bathroom to the 'office' area. However, since demo is probably not in the cards, I like your idea of sealing off the inside doorway, and making a doorway to the outdoor area behind the laundry room. That might also keep the noise down in the house as well.

They are very pretty, see if you can sell them. failing that, if you really want to paint them, with those great legs, they'd look fabulous faux marbled on just the top. The Furniture Guys did a show about this with an old library table (in the mid 90's) that turned out awesomely!

My parents liked my newer apartment better than my older one I lived in for four years. It's bright, laid out better, and in a nicer community with clean pools, workout room, spa, etc...and the handy-men come promptly and don't steal from me.

But moving up from the second to the third floor was a bit hard for them. Dad said I should name the stairs instead of just counting them.

Ugh, who'd want to bring the 70's or 80's back in terms of colors and style? No thanks!

Either keep a supply of hydrogen perioxide/bleach, or get some RIT dye and change the color.

I looks a lot like my Mom's, that I used from birth until last week, (I'm in my 30's). I now am using my Dad's set his grandfather made. :) That's a nice antique on your hands.

I adore wool blankets and I got a throw in Scotland a few years ago that is on my bed all the time. I don't like synthetics at all so it was worth the extra cash. I keep my eyes peeled for used ones all the time; I also toy with the idea of getting a bunch of old sweaters from Goodwill and cutting them into squares for a sewn blanket.

I'm in a 628 Sq. ft. space that I moved into about 9 months ago. My first apartment was cheaper in rent, for more space, but poorly maintained, and buggy at @ 1000 sq. ft. I had a bedroom and closets I had for a company room, but I hate wasted space and the apartment seemed so dark and chopped into odd pieces.

I also feel much less like a pea in a huge pod, and while my new company room is also my dining room/living room, my new 1b/1b is a lot better organized and seems larger, brighter, and cleaner than the older one.

I do this! So exciting to see it mentioned here. I also hang up bags, scarves, and capes on my collapsible/expandable rack.

I'd be fine with it, I've known too many people (sadly) killed in their homes, and I think they'd be happy knowning someone was enjoying the space. Tehy were all lovely houses.

However I'm too poor to ever own a house so I'll probably end up renting for a while. But something crazy could have happened in this apartment and i'll never know.

I ggrew up in Michigan, but have lived in central Texas for three years now, and I hate, HATE, fire ants. The scorpions don't seem to be in the city, and the cockroaches only seem to visit ocassionally, but the ants ruin anything outside.

Makes me wish for freezing cold winters here to kill stuff here, or at least have better population control. I'm petrefied of bugs, when i never was before.
