Great comments by everyone so far - okay, my sweet deal apartment is northwest suburbs of Chicago. It's about 650-sq feet with wood floors. Nothing fancy, but over time I have made it my home. It's comfortable, front door, back sliding door, ground level. I've created a little outdoor patio to sit and enjoy with a grill. I take care of the apartment building (4-units, including mine). I've added flowers and plants around the building. $480/month ... but I pay utilities.

Just a great job. Blue is my favorite color. I'm a little surprised you didn't go with a shade of blue for the walls, but that's me. The wood floor is terrific.

The doors painted black ... nicely done! Those look to be sliding doors? Do they open into the kitchen or a bedroom? That was a great touch painting them black. The room is so balanced.

I think this is an apartment, right? What an outstanding perk in having that access to the outside. And you have done a double-outstanding job in providing that outdoor, comfortable, with some privacy feeling. Your blood pressure must drop in the warm months!!!

I compliment the use of the blue/green tarp over the patio area. What a great way to create a level of comfort in a superb area. Nicely done.

Outstanding idea with the bike hanging near the door. Great blue color and accents the HVAC piping. The long hallway look and wood floors ... but, please do something with those colored test tubes!

I can assume correctly that you added the shelf under the window in the kitchen area. For me, that really makes the kitchen. The light from the window hi-liting the plants is cozy. You gave me an idea for my own window. Have you considered adding such as frosted glass appearance to the top section of the window? .

I have an apartment with small bathroom. Linoleum floors? Consider putting down carpet tiles. I did and it is outstanding. Also I took a wire-shelf and cut it and fit it across the back of the tub like a shelf and put my things there. And a taller, vertical cabinet in a corner for towels and extras is good bathroom furniture.

I have a similiar type of light in my kitchen. What I did was find a lamp shade and hung from the base frame. You may not find the exact size match, but the small set screws can be used or you may need to be inventive with some type of hardware. You can punch a small hole through the lamp shade and insert the hardware where the set screw would have gone. You can see where I'm going with this. Being inventive with how you keep it in place.

Cannot stand overhead lights. Floor lamps, table lamps are the only way to go. Different styles placed around the room ... each with a slightly different type of light, adding "light texture" to different places in the room or living space. That is the best.

You have a "good eye". It takes that to envision what it could become (again) with some effort. I don't suggest you show it to those you purchased from ... they'll want it back. Nicely done ...

I used my computer to schedule a "reminder" once every 2-wks to "get rid of something". Even if it was only a cardboard box, it counted. I've been sporadic about keeping to it each instance. I think every one here agrees ... it's not about the quantity, it's about the quality.

If you have storage containers your not using, use them to store other things. I turn canned goods sideways and stack them and write on the bottom what the can is. I like what others have said about using space twice (storing something in a large pot you don't use that much.
