What does this even mean? It's not as if the kids are eating the car seats. I am in complete agreement with Erica on this: let's stop being so damn paranoid. Don't want your kids to be in contact with any chemicals? Stop breathing the air.

I agree entirely with PineTree. I've found the need to do very little childproofing at home for my 2 year old. Instead, he's learned what not to do -- and it's often a matter of trial and error.

Of course you'll be fine. Give him a good breakfast and let him run around for an hour or two in the morning. Then start your trip -- he'll nap in the car, and then you can stop for lunch to give both you a break (and a diaper change for him), then finish the trip -- he'll probably nap again after lunch. No big deal.

I think Carrie's comment is exactly right. Why not have a baby shower for a 2nd child? Is there anything less to celebrate? And I would agree with giving the couple what they've asked for (and making a specific request is a relief for most guests). If you're really opposed, I'm sure there's something equally practical that would be welcome: wipes? diaper cream? baby lotion?

I have the Babyletto Mercer crib. I am 5'8" and my husband is 6'4", and we've never had any problems in finding it too short. If you like it, I'd get it.

Gee, I thought the discussion was about designer diapers (which happen to be disposable). It's interesting that the comments here haven't really focused on the fact that designers like Cynthia Rowley are now getting into the act. Doesn't this say something interesting about the baby industry? Could we focus on that, please?
