Some hospitals have a concierge. Call them and ask what services they have available. When my friend's newborn was in NICU, the concierge service helped me put together some gift cards for shops and restaurants in/around the hospital.

Our 4-year-old comfortably sleeps in a toddler bed, and I anticipate she'll use it until age 5 or so. We have the Pkolino toddler bed, which converts to a youth chair, so it should have a long life in our household.

Interesting, but not sure I'd pay a monthly fee for this technology. Also, I'm curious what happens if you are using your iPhone as the monitor and you get a phone call? Does it wake baby? Do you keep your phone on mute? I suppose it would be best if you had an iPad or IPod Touch...

it's definitely attention-grabbing, which can't hurt the marketing! I agree with adrienne, though...it's such a BIG bear that it made the bathroom look tiny tiny tiny

I actually think my kids would love this for pretend play...my concern though is that since it's a dry erase board, they'll start to think they can draw on Daddy's iPad too!

I've never seen those carts either. Furthermore, all the carts at our IKEA pull to the right. ALL of them.

The childcare concerns me for the same reason others have mentioned...questionable experience and background checks of the employees.

All that said, my kids LOVE going to IKEA. I agree that weekdays are best.

I hung a shoe organizer over the back of my pantry door and used it to store water bottles, sippy cups and other random kitchen items. It worked great!

It looks like there is a curtain and curtain rod in the closet behind the doors, so I assume they draw the curtain rather than shut the closet doors while their baby is sleeping...

Nice job. This makes me want to see the rest of your space!

I love this idea. That looks like an easy pattern too. My friend Sara hand-knit some monster party favors for her son's 3rd birthday and choreographed a stop-motion animation film with them. MUCH more time consuming, but they turned out adorable. Photos of her monsters here

My son happily slept in a loft for several months when he was a baby. Our plan was to eventually move him in to our daughter's room (once he was sleeping through the night and wouldn't wake her). We ended up moving before that happened...but the loft worked great in the meantime.

Thanks! I may try a different tape for the handles next time. I was going with what we had on hand (free), but I love the idea of using grip tape in a softer color.

I think like most things in life, balance is key.

I've worked part-time from home for the past 6 years....3 of those years with kids. My solution has been using about 10 hours/wk of affordable childcare (nanny share, babysitting co-op, etc.) and squeezing the other 10 hours/wk in during naps or early mornings before the hubs leaves for work.

That said, there are still times I have to give the kids some play dough or puzzles (we don't have TV) and work a little in front of them. I can also squeeze in a little work while they're at the table eating lunch.

I personally really like having boundaries between work and home time because I feel more present and more efficient. I agree it's great for them to see that mommy works. But I don't want to get lost in my work while they're around.

There used to be a cereal called T.S. Grahams or something like that. It had this Norman Rockwell-esque picture of a boy on the box. And it was delicious. I miss it.

I built my daughter a play kitchen when she was 18 months, and she began using it immediately. At first, she just put her toys in the sink and turned the knobs and banged the pots and pans around, but she enjoyed it. By age two, she was pretending to cook and really using her imagination much more. Now, at age 3, she still loves it, and my 16-month-old son has started showing interest in it too.

I think two is the perfect age to get one! Go for it.

I cloth diapered both my babies 90% of the time, but still appreciated having a few disposable diapers on hand for those first few weeks of sleep deprivation, or to use exclusively at night. And I had a very busy, very successful career too. :)

Buy some Nature Babycare or wipes, cream, or baby lotion as others have suggested. I don't see the dilemma.

Jackie,

When I first saw this, I thought "oh look! a clever way to hide my chocolate stash from my husband and kids!!" And then I realized this is actually meant FOR the kids! Ha!

Either way, it's a cool idea. And I bet if you didn't want to DIY you could buy a fake soup can safe/key holder somewhere. Don't they make those?
