nice place, great dog. agree w/ nighthawk that the speakers should be further apart and away from the wall for good sound.

in austria, we use these as feather beds. the duvet is more twin sized and folded on the bed.

the coqo floral rug in tomato! would bring out all the wonderful blues and greys in your furniture and would also highlight your wonderful dark floors.

--"half-used bars of soap."

definitely a problem for me. there's nothing worse than looking at a soap bar with bits of hair & other stuff on it. this is why a lot of folks have switched to liquid soap.

we bought the case study bed from dwr here in cambridge about 7 years ago. dwr had one on display then & i've seen it a few times since then but perhaps you should call ahead. we use it as our main sofa, have guests spend the night on it, & are very happy with the way it's made. we also have a case study bed & it's very, very sturdy (like the sofa). we do need protection under the hair pin legs for our wood floors though.

solid construction that also allows the mattress to breathe. I recommend any of the case study beds available from modernica, dwr, hive, etc. very sturdily made & great minimal design. with luck you could also find one on craigslist.

very, very nice--everything is put together so well, making it a unique space rather than a designed one. the writing and presentation of the space is of course first rate as well. always a pleasure to read anything p2 writes.

for it to be a real investment, i'd say you have to be spending in the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands. my wife and i have been collecting art since we were college students & every year or so we buy ourselves a major piece for our anniversary. we have some very nice pieces by well-known artists that are original art or signed lithographs but could never really consider it an investment, esp. now in this bad economy. unless you're spending the big dough and are an expert (or can hire one) i'd say buy what you like but don't think you can easily resell for profit. i have friends who have had to sell their collections of miro, warhol, and lawrence for 1/2 the price they paid.
