grey + white is such a winner, for any age.

What a GORGEOUS change and great story - testament to the value of SLOW design and taking your time. When we rush and DO it as fast as someone else wants us to, often the results are not as good as when it takes forever. Also, the value of light, unobstructed, and the beauty of a full wall of white subway tile, trumps the value of storage and eye-level access to drinking glasses and the like. Bravo.

i love all that beautiful oldschool pink tile - it really is a matter of taste - there are pink tile lovers and haters - it's just too bad you can't reuse tile (easily)

amen amen amen amen! the road is always better than the destination, as they say - and the road is often filled with time waiting, deliberating, breathing, deciding, and saving (all key elements of good design) - one thing i'd add to this list - put away the mags, blogs and design tv from time to time - look inward, not outward for what's next and what's needed in your home!

this is fantastic - so sunny and I love the simplicity of yellow + white - needs nothing more. i also love that it is fresh and feminine but also perfect for a boy's nursery - great idea if you are not a finder-outer

love it - powder rooms are just the place to be bold, bombastic and evocative. round mirrors rock as well - everyone looks better in them.

I have searched long and hard for vibrant natural dyes for baking, to no avail. The ones I've found muted pastels, but nothing like the colors you get from FD&C red #5, unfortunately. I am sure there is a way (that someone more kitchen-savvy will suggest) to achieve this through pulverized beets, blueberries, basil, etc., but as far as what's on store shelves even in really high-end baking stores, I've come up with zero.

this is genius. a way to trully enjoy books + mags. i imagine that shelf is wide enough for thicker books? right? if not - its a mag rack for the parents. love it. tired of book shelves that take up too much width and require OCD organization so as not to look messy and ugly.

This is delicious - on so many fronts. A good place to read is priceless! I also love the dark paint at the top - adds so much depth and takes it out of "closet mode" and into "sweet nook" mode.

These are so wonderfully old-school -especially the braided rug. My grandmother always had brightly colored braided rugs throughout her house. Very homespun. And the gumball rug is so fun and looks like it feels good on bare feet. Good ideas for future spaces!

Love this invitation for each of us to go our own ways with our homes - to stop copying and competing, and do more soul-searching. To make spaces that are true and beautiful and perfect to us, maybe only to us, the dweller. Who else matters or really cares after all? Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Wow...I love how smooth it is. Nothing says "subflooring" like the roughness of plywood. This is a great discovery on a day I got a painfully expensive quote on flooring for myself. :)
