I just ran into the problem of "how much is too much" for eggs at the local farmers market here. I just moved to the Boston area from New York, and am finding that markets are much smaller and have less variety than I'm used to in nyc- the local market here only has one egg vendor (organic) who sells eggs for $7. I find, tho, that I don't care if the eggs are organic or not, but I do want pasture raised bc they TASTE better, and I'm willing to pay up to $6 for that, but I'm not willing to pay 3x the grocery price just for organic eggs. I bought a wok from the wokshop this summer and it came with seasoning instructions saying that the wok was coated in a wax that needed to be removed by filling the wok with water and 2-3 Tbsp baking soda, boiling it for 15 minutes and then washing well with soap and scrub brush before heating it up with some oil and alliums (onions or garlic) to season it. one of my best friends wont eat cilantro- if I make guac and put some in (cause who doesn't), she'll ask and wont eat it if there's any cilantro in it at all. She's always said that it tastes like soap and that it got handed down from her father who's the same way about it. Do You Hate Cilantro? It May Be Genetic. Gizmodo |

I almost bought that Nigella Lawson set on amazon a couple years ago, but someone on AT had bought it and said it hadn't held up at all- i.e. was chipping and peeling after only the first few uses, so I left it alone. I'd read the reviews on amazon carefully before buying it. Obsession: White Enamel Housewares |

I've never tried Chia seeds, but I eat whole flax seeds in my cereal every morning and (since I don't grind them) I add a tsp of flax seed oil along with my maple syrup- the oil tastes foul straight, but doesn't overwhelm apples and syrup, and I like being able to keep the nice pop of the seeds and still get the good stuff inside them. There are so many other farmer's market apples that never make it onto most grocery store shelves- why not introduce people to a great apple that we've never heard of, while also celebrating an apple that we've all eaten since we were in 2nd grade (with peanut butter of course!) haha- when I moved into my apartment we had a lovely old gas stove (big stovetop, all white, totally old-school), but for some reason all the numbers on the oven dial had been rubbed off and I had to guess what temp it was baking at (didn't work very well). Needless to say, I bought an oven thermometer and everything's been peachy since. My Essential Baking Tool: Oven Thermometer Essential Kitchen Tools |

How do I SEARCH?!! I have half an old pizza dough written down sited as theKitchn, but I can't find it in the browsing section and can't search theKitchn for "pizza dough"! This change is welcome, but I suspect that the transition will also be slightly traumatic if I can't even find the search bar! HELP! Welcome to The Kitchn 3.0! |

I saved this tour for the morning b/c I was just too tired at 12:30 last night to fully appreciate it, and I'm so glad I did- your house is absolutely lovely, and your notes to AT are totally charming- this was the most welcoming, un-sterile house tour I've ever seen! there are two ways to keep it from being a mosquito breeding ground: one, you get a fine mesh screen (like window screen) that will let water through, but not bugs or larvae, and cover any holes with that, or Two, just keep a couple goldfish in the tank to eat whatever bugs come in to lay eggs, and whatever eggs actually get laid. ick- I used to work at a tea shop where we made these and the summers were FULL of sticky tacky tapioca goo EVERYWHERE. It's ruined them for me forever. How Can I Make Bubble Tea (Boba) at Home? Good Question |

I don't have Stalking the Wild Asparagus on me right now, but it has some instructions on how to build up poison ivy immunity in it. I've never done it myself, but here's a blogger's summary of Euell Gibbons' instructions: Poison Ivy In The Backyard: What Should We Do? |

this is dreamy-- I didn't think I was going to find an apt in this year's contest that I loved or that would inspire me as much as in years past; your apartment disproves that. Absolutely lovely. Jordan's Light, Location & Vibe |

seriously, I hate when you guys post these AWESOME things, that I TOTALLY need (I'm getting to the point of really needing to buy myself an iron, and I'd rather buy one that'll last forever, than one that'll only last 2 years) and they aren't even in production. drives me crazy! @artfemme11-- the milk repair was an old AT post for cracked, but not smashed stuff-- I don't think it'd work in this case, but here's the link: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/tips/what-does-milk-have-to-do-witch-cracked-china-136442 How To Repair Chipped China |
