Oh, and the Svan chairs can even hold up to 250 lbs when converted to an adult chair.

I thought my S-I-L was a tad overboard when she got a Svan highchair. Now she has two. The 6-year-old still uses her original and the 16-month-old has her own. (On a side note: the baby is fearless and the Svan is steady when she scales it to get it the seat on her own.)

How about a combo of natural stain on 80% of it and then a raspberry stain or paint on the "motor box" and the dowel for the handle? Best of both worlds?

@JSCarey Just because Catherine doesn't want to eat out all the time doesn't mean she doesn't want to experience the road. I made a road trip from SC to WY in a 36-foot moving truck. I did not want to stop at restaurants/fast food places because of the sheer size of the truck. I made a road trip from Memphis to Montreal in a regular vehicle and quickly learned that restaurants/fast food usually made me sleepy.

As to the real question:
Catherine, I will tell you what I usually pack for my long, solo road adventures.
1) Refillable bottles with filtered water pitcher buckled into the backseat. (save money & save the planet by refilling at hotel or rest stop)
2) Mixed nuts (takes the edge off before your next scheduled break)
3) Really good canned tuna packed in olive oil (no need for mayo) (I like Genova? it's in a gold tin)
4) Triscuits to put the tuna on (they don't make my sleepy like bread)
5) Apples - Whole & a cripsy variety (better than caffeine for a longer alertness)
6) Natural peanut butter.... great with apples or Triscuits
7) Carrots - (other crispy veggies are nice to snack on)
8) Reusable utensils including a sharp knife
9) Stop at grocery stores & re-stock from the outer walls & treat yourself to deli salads & meats.

Ice in Coolers - I travelled through the Grand Canyon area during a summer & one 7-lb bag would last a day in my medium sized cooler.

@xtina A pied-à-terre is a secondary or temporary home. It sounds like this one is a crash pad in the city for this person.

@afor The table/dining set are not hers.... these are photos from the selling listing.

I'm with @LondonClaire .... Make a "storyboard" folder or pintrest board to see what color combos *YOU* are drawn to.

My favorites are local collaborations.

My school's PTA put one together in the 70s with recipes submitted by "Mrs. John Doe (Jane)." What a throwback! It was recently reprinted and it is still the go-to book.

The Memphis Junior League has killer cookbooks. Not only are they collections good food, but usually good anecdotes.

My grandmother made chess pies for Thanksgiving every year. She grew up in Ohio, but became an East-Tennesseer when she married. My chess pies never turn out like hers did.

I >>>LOVE<<< my Sound Oasis machine. I was having terrible insomnia and this baby put me right out and kept me out. I got one for my brother who works third-shift and he says, "I love that thing. That's the best sleep I've ever had."
You can get this model at Bed, Bath & Beyond & wait to use their 20% off coupon. http://www.sound-oasis.com/products/sound_therapy_systems/sound_system_s650.php

The coolest thing is the "Sleep Enhancement Technology." The sound will undetectably soften and "stretch out." Your breathing naturally follows suit and you are ZZZZZZZzzz.

If you have a biggish blank wall you could drill holes in them, attach with jump rings, and make a "curtain" that would have some movement. http://www.curbly.com/alexrussell/posts/732-not-your-mother-s-beaded-curtain

Or do the chandelier idea like @meginsf said... possibly spray painting the ugly sides in one color to unify the interior of the mobile.

Wow. That's a lot of pee. When you do pull up the carpet be prepared for more stink in the padding. Use the Nature's Miracle on the underlayment or even replace it if it is plywood.

On another note about claws hanging up on rugs... I've used Soft Claws on two kitties for a month now and found they don't snag blankets, the area rugs or clothing anymore. A friend has used them for over 9 years now on her cats. Only use Soft Claws on INSIDE kitties.

And... Mr. Mao is adorable!

Use the leftover beer to kill slugs in your garden. Set out shallow saucers full of the stuff and the slugs will be drawn to the beer and then drown/die of alcohol poisoning.

How about a photo book? Something not too expensive you can fill with family photos and opposite the pics you can write in the names.
This is great for learning names and faces to family members who live far away.

Oh, and I second The Little People. These are great to act out life's lessons. I'm fascinated when watching my niece tell "the kids" they have to wait to have their turn on the slide.
