I use trays to keep my apartment tidy. One on the bed side table, livingroom side table, entryway table and kitchen table. I only allow myself to keep as many objects on the table that can fit on the tray. The trays corral all the stuff so you can actually see the tabletop. When the tray is full, it's time to purge.
