Great collection! I love looking at these roundups. I've got a lot of them saved. One day I'll make it to Berlin..

I'm looking for a place like this to stay in Montreal in a few weeks. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'd be curious to know what's under the white paint on the trim. Deep, saturated colors with original (refinished, if necessary) wood would be fantastic, but with white trim it might feel, as you put it, "Skittles-ish".

That's the most sophisticated and fun use of an accent wall (the orange one) that I have ever seen. Not just "I need color SOMEwhere because I'm scared of neutrals/my space is too big and empty feeling", which is usually what accent walls say to me, but really thought out, in a way that so complements the rest of the apartment that it feels necessary.

Something about the kitchen seemed so homey! It's so easy for a white kitchen to feel sterile. The more I look at it, the more I think that there's something about the big, soothing rug, the textured countertops, and the awesome retro handles that soften the space in just the right way. Bravo!

These guidelines are meant for a home much bigger than my tiny one bedroom apartment... But a nice resource nonetheless. One day, perhaps!

I also vote daybed. You can get proper mattresses for them, and dress them up during the day with a bedspread or textile of your choice.

I disagree with white hardware. The old hardware is charming.

I would paint the details on the top drawer and the legs white or cream to make them stand out, though.

Really great, stylish and livable at the same time!

What's that lighter grey on the walls? Or, do readers know of a similar color? It would be perfect for the kitchen in the apartment I'm moving into this summer...

Some variant of dove gray, for sure.

I think swapping out the green towel and placemats for something more neutral would go a long way, too.

The walls! Paint them! Pale gray. I agree that the beige is making this look like a hotel room.

And the drapes. A lighter, more romantic color, as others have mentioned, would be wonderful. Or a delicate, light-colored boho pattern with the green of your prints and duvet and blue of the dog bed. The dog bed is cute, but needs to be tied in to something. Maybe some blue and/or green for the pillows on the chairs, too.

I personally think the furniture is fine - those chairs are great! - and with lighter walls and some more accent colors will look much closer to the romantic style you want than they do now surrounded by brown and beige.

I'm seeing quite a lot of IKEA in there.

It's way, way over the top. I certainly wouldn't want to live there. But it's fun to look at, to see things taken to such an extreme...

I have one of these windows in my apartment. Although it doesn't do much by itself, it REALLY contributes to cross ventilation, as others have said. You just need to keep doors and other windows open in your house.

Plus, even without a screen and lights on in the room at night, bugs NEVER get in. No moths, mosquitoes, beetles, no bats or other animals. I'd imagine that's the original reason for this window style.

How To Get Air Flow Past These Windows | Apartment Therapy Chicago

While I like the idea in theory, it's not practical for me. I live in the northeast, in a rental apartment on the third floor of a building with forced air heat, original windows from the early 20th century and 12 foot ceilings in the living room. AND I don't have a thermostat in my apartment. Curtains are vital for temperature regulation! They play a really important role in keeping the sun out to keep it cool in the summer, and to keep drafts out and heat in during the winter.

That said, I'm always a bit sad about needing curtains in the living room, because of the original stained glass that gets covered up! It's similar to the second picture. I'd love to be able to show it off...
