I can so relate to Carrih. I now use the "if I buy it, where will it go, what will I take out of my space to accommodate it" spiel. Sounds crazy, but I've begun to use a similar analogy of relationships too: who is this person and what will they bring into my life, is it something I really want, or do I want them because they are "unattainable"
Thanks for the therapy (on both levels). The check is in the mail!

It will call for more "construction" than you may want to take on, but all I can think of right now is, if you have 12' high ceilings, how can you not make a loft bed area? tucked into the corner in front of the kitchen, and no, do not block those great windows! Cabinets, shelves, etc, could be the "base" of the bed and make it really secure.
Lucky, lucky you to have all that wonderful space! Good luck!

Wish I could do a closet office, but I make jewelry and need natural daylight to see the true colors of my beads and wires. Sigh! So cool oilcloth background!

So cool and neat, esp for a guy! (Most of the guys I know are slobs, sorry!) Great color style, and love that certain areas contain "collections" and they are not in every nook and cranny of every space. Kudos!
PS: when can I move in?

Haven't had a coffee table in years! Living in small spaces, they always seem to interrupt the flow. My saving grace has always been bookcases, bookcases, book cases! And beautiful wicker baskets of all shapes and sizes to house my patterns and fabrics and now my beads and jewelry making supplies.

I'm about to move and cant decide between a totally "zen" bedroom with everything hidden in the closet, or a "buduoir" (spelling?) with gauzy curtains and lush pillows and plants, and lamps, and carpet, and , and, and.....

@Maybe Someday! Don't discard your daughters two bookcases, use them on each end with a plywood or mdf shelf in the middle as long as you need. I saw this idea on instructables .com and thought it was cool! This way you still have the storage the bookcases provide and a desk "area" . Just a thought!
As far a minimalism is concerned, i love the idea of it, but I'm a creative person and am always lusting after more space for my "stuff". Not a packrat per se, "I am gonna use it all!" LOL!

Oh, I've had a thing for the beauty of plywood for ages, but never the occassion to use it. I'm moving soon, and I'm definetely going to find an area for some chipboard as I've known OSB to be called. It's time the world caught up with my tastes!!!lol!

Oh, and go figure... every morning my mom fried me an egg, and every morning I flushed an egg down the toilet when she left for work. Then suddenly she started scrambling them, and suddenly I started eating them!
I think it was the runny yellow stuff that i couldn't stomach! Still like scrambled well done much better!
And I eat my oatmeal practically raw: one minute in the boiling water is enough. I pour off at least 99% of the water so that the heat doesn't turn it to glue. Better raw than glue!

What Was Your Worst Childhood Food Experience?

This post made my night! I t was hilarious!
My childhood food horror was (and still is) the veins in chicken meat. I could not eat them, I had to pull them out!!! And fish skin, which I threw in the trash and tried to beat the cat when he pulled it out! (Is there anything cats love more than fish? Didn't know that then!)
Also, the first time I ate cheesecake, it made me throw up. However, nowadays, I can't get enough of it!
