I used to be a rule follower, but I have come to enjoy experimenting while cooking. I will usually follow a recipe the first time, but then I'll do my own thing. I do follow baking rules.

Right there with you. My 3 yr old sometimes just gets kid food. But most of the time, he's given what we're eating. He goes through picky stages. But, this is a kid who loves Kimchi pancakes and all the fun little sides at the Korean restaurant and also enjoys Indian food. He gets his veggies and loves fruit. So, if he eats some "kid" food, I don't worry. Sanity is important.

We do it, but we go to a store that offers free pictures. We have only waited 10 minutes tops.

Also, several of the branches in my library system (where I work) are doing free Santa photos. We are processing them into nice "cards" that we are posting on Flickr. The comments we've heard back is that people are grateful for the free pictures.

I got the Chatter Phone for my son when he was 1 (he's now 3). He loved it and understood that it was a phone. He would talk on the phone. He also used blocks, toy cell phones, and remotes as phones. The Chatter Phone can also be pulled along as a pull toy. And the rotary dial makes a ringing sound. Kid's will surprise you.

My almost 3 year old loves Trucks HD and Old Macdonald Had a Farm both from Duck Duck Moose (who also did Wheels on the Bus, which he also loves), Harold and the Purple Crayon, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star from Super Simple Learning, Fire Truck & Dump Truck both from Good Glue, and Preschool Games Little Puzzles from Grasshopper Apps.

Peparkakor - the thing spice cookies. They are sometimes in tins sometimes not. We used to make them as a kid, but they are a pain to make, and Ikea's are good.

Lingonberry preserves, although I can now find them in my local grocery. Must for going with meatballs and roast beef. Also good with chicken.

They have these great cardamom toasts (rusks?) Love those things. Mildly flavored.

Their salmon is good. The sauce that they serve with the salmon in the cafe, can be found in a jar as well and it's quite good.

Last time I was there, I bought some Anchovies because I want to make Jansson's Temptation. Still need to do that!

My thought would be eggs. Quiche or frittata are both good and filling and generally have eggs and cheese. You can add veggies and meats that he/you like.

What a cool idea. I can't believe they're selling 10 buckets and zip ties for $298 though. Holy cow!

Agree on the mayo...tried it for the first time recently and it was the best grilled cheese I'd ever made.

I watched an episode here a few weeks back (the Willy Wonka one). It was awful. These people are just out for attention and what they're doing to their children is shameful (the Willy Wonka party's tag line was "Get Sugared Up").
