My bathroom is about the same size, except it is narrower if you can believe it. Agree about taking the hamper off the floor. Maybe a decorative hook and a nice looking cloth laundry bag hanging from the wall over the tile? Also, get rid of the clear shower curtain. Get a nice one that adds color. FORGET about the over the toilet 'etager', they are so tacky, and tend to be wobbly. Completely edit what is in the bathroom, some of the supplies not used that often can go in a closet. Also, how many people in your family? You seem to have a lot of towels in there. Apartment Therapy New York | Vicki's Bathroom: August Group Cure New York Design Meetup |

Why would you pay $14.90 for it? Most supermarkets and bodegas here in NY sell a prepackaged queso fresco that's not half bad for around $3.00. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What Is Queso Fresco? The Cheesemonger |

I feel strongly that you should paint over the goldenrod with a neutral, almost white color. For one thing, when you use color as strong as that any flaw in the surface of the walls or any little bleed or mistake that occurred during painting jumps out. Also, the area is tiny. I would paint the walls perhaps a creamy very light buttery yellow. Ditch the bamboo shade and get a simple pull down blind and cover the inside panel of it with a bold graphic print. Do the same for the door. Sorry to say this but your kitchen looks very mish-mash and what is up with that shredded washcloth? Get some coordinating kitchen accessories and a nice dish drainer, maybe you want to go with a stainless theme for the accessories. The cord hanging down over your sink looks dangerous. We pay $70 for our small two bedroom apartment and it includes laundry. We do this every other week, on the off weeks it's just laundry and it's $20 for that. The person who does this for us is also our childcare person, but she cleans on a morning when she is not looking after our child and we pay her separately for this. I totally trust her so never have those issues. Before her we had the porter from my building do it (she cleans for others too). I totally recommend having a cleaning person. It is some of the best money I have ever spent and absolutely is worth it in terms of the time and stress it saves me. Apartment Therapy Boston | 'Escape' from Cleaning by Hiring a Housekeeper? I love these posts! When we're in town, I usually make a tuna casserole for my husband to munch on all weekend (and usually have for one dinner too) and a quiche for myself. I just took the cheese and bacon out of the freezer for my quiche! I'm grooving on using up my food in my freezer and cupboard and having a clean slate for fall. Now that I work for a school, the new year always feels like it starts in September rather than January. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of July 25-26, 2009 |

The easiest way to do stock is in a slow cooker. I just throw the carcass along with any uneaten shreds of dark meat into the crock pot with an onion and a couple of cloves of smashed garlic and any other veggies that might be left over from dinner. Let it cook overnight and drain in the morning and save in ziplocks. It's really easy, and I don't have room in my fridge to store old carcasses anyway. Tonight I'm making a tuna casserole for my husband, and a bacon/olive/onion/cheese quiche for myself. We'll each eat these over the weekend and have breakfast and lunches covered. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of June 27-28, 2009 |

I'm totally digging what looks like an indoor grill in there. To be perfectly honest I would replace the counter top - you can get a nice formica one for not too much money - with something that looks a little like black marble (think Ina Garten's kitchen) and then I'd put new tile on the floor, black and white squares. Keep the cabinets white and you have a classic black and white theme going. If the linoleum floor in there is in good shape you can just lay self adhesive tiles over the existing floor. I have issues with egg yolks being separate from the white. The only way I can eat them separate is in hard boiled form, but even then there cannot be even a hint of translucency in the yolk or I am totally grossed out. Therefore it has to be scrambled for me, and I've even thrown out sandwiches where the egg was not perfectly blended. Even thinking about this is making my stomach turn, so I'll stop. I hear you all, but it is totally unrealistic for most of us to eat this way. And, it is also discouraging to those who try to eat healthy and ethical foods on a budget. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | On Why I Pay $7.50 for a Dozen Eggs#comments |

This just makes me feel even more hopeless in terms of ever mastering "healthy" eating. First organic wasn't enough, then free range wasn't enough, now grass fed isn't enough, on and on and on. I have a family and we spend $100 to feed a family of 3 each week and you can bet I don't spend $7.50 on eggs. I bargain hunt just like most people while still trying to buy organic and pesticide/hormone/antibiotic free when I can afford it and when it is available. I'm all for farmers making a decent living and I certainly don't really care about what others spend their food money on but I feel like we need to be more focused on increasing the amount of healthy and ethically raised food available to the masses. I don't know anyone around me (and we're all working), who can afford to spend $7.50 on eggs. What makes this different from someone who spends $3000 on a pair of shoes? This smacks of conspicuous consumption, foodie style. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | On Why I Pay $7.50 for a Dozen Eggs#comments |

I'm glad to see this, because I do agree there is a time and a place for American cheese. I'm surprised no one has brought up white american, which is really the best for all the uses stated above, and has an extra little zing. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | In Praise of American Cheese |
