While your answering the roller shade question, can you also tell me what color grout that is in the kitchen (because I feel silly asking too...). Thanks!

Your place is lovely, especially those oiled oak floors. Would you mind sharing what product you used? Thanks.

Boomertea,
You might also look at Granadatile.com. They have tons of beautiful designs -- several of which look Moroccan insipired -- and you can customize the colors.

I love your place. So creative, welcoming and homey. And I loved the "Handjobs" sign too. Call me immature, but that would crack me up every time I walked into the room. (And I'm a middle-aged woman with 3 kids. Two of whom would also crack up every time they saw that sign.) More's the pity...

Hmmm. I think the whole reward chart phenomenon is seriously mistaken. (Though not as mistaken as the word "Poo." Yech.) Not to mention condescending. Imagine if your partner gave you a sticker/gold star/reward every time you _______________.

See what I mean?

Anyway, for for folks interested in learning more about why rewarding behavior will backfire in ways you'd never considered, take a look at "Punished by Rewards," by Alfie Kohn. And for folks not interested, take a look at those graphics. Yech.

How about a Kiva Card? (http://www.kiva.org/) Basically, you buy a $25 gift card and the recipient can choose someone (a group or individual in the developing world) to lend it to. The entire amount goes to the lendee. Once it's repaid, the money goes back into an account and the recipient can choose another lendee. It's a gift that keeps on giving, and, I must say, the website is pretty addicting. It's hard to choose who to lend to first.

From their website: We are a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

Try Perfectplank.com. They're cheaper than everyone but Ikea.

I couldn't agree more with postagenotes -- do not put it between the columns. That would interfere with movement between rooms and look....well... weird. Set it to one side of the FP. We have exactly this arrangement, and it works very well.

You house is lovely. So many lovely pieces, and so well put-together. Would you mind sharing the source for the reading lamp next to the couch? I love it.

My sister has that Macy's couch in her office, and won't buy it again for her living room. She says the buttons are very easy to catch on clothing, especially cuffs and straps. She's almost ripped them off a couple of times.

I think you new Karlstad looks great.

I love your home. It's beautiful. Would you mind sharing which kind of wide plank flooring you got at Lumber Liquidators? We're looking there now, but can't decide which kind to get!
Thanks!
