One thing to consider when judging couples for having expensive items on their registry is that a lot of stores give a one-time discount after the wedding date on items that remain in the registry. When I got married, my husband and I registered for an expensive dining room table and chairs, not with any expectation that we would receive it from our guests but so that we could use our own money to buy it with a bit of a discount thrown in there.

I have never, ever salted my eggplant before and have never had a problem with bitterness. Maybe I've just been lucky?

I'm a microbiologist working in a children's hospital and I often tend to forget my audience and discuss bacteria, fecal cultures, etc. I've learned to tone it down a bit, but the truth of the matter is that this is my job and at meal times at work we routinely discuss these topics without a second thought. Most of my friends and family have gotten used to it but I'm much more careful around strangers and friends' new beaus. My husband used to tease me that a meal with me wasn't complete without the mention of the "P-word", his euphemism for placenta.

And by turning them on their sides, I mean laying them flat so that they will fit height-wise

The best advice I read for this particular issue was as follows: If you are in a situation where it would be rude to pull out the newspaper and start doing the crossword puzzle, it is rude to talk/text/email/surf.

Why would rain barrels be illegal? It seems odd to me that something that saves such a precious resources like water would be illegal.

I don't mind the help but when it actually creates more work for me, I'd prefer my guests just relax and enjoy themselves.

A friend helped clean up after the Super Bowl yesterday and ended up putting a large handful of forks all in the same compartment in the dishwasher with dried, crusted food stuck on as she didn't even rinse them off! That's the kind of help I would gladly refuse :-)

I agree with akay. My liquid intake mainly consists of water because I want to use my calories for food!

Also, I just really don't like juice all that much, save for fruity cocktails :-)

They remind me of the gloves that I use at work (in a microbiology lab) to remove items from a -70C freezer so unfortunately I can't see using them any time soon.

A lot of people who don't like cilantro may have genetics to blame for that. There's a percentage of people who don't like cilantro because it tastes soapy to them and it's purely due to a genetic difference in the taste buds. Thankfully I am not one of these people. Salsa wouldn't be the same for me without it!

That being said, I absolutely cannot stand gin. To me it will always taste like I am drinking a Christmas tree no matter what it's mixed with. Mushrooms and olives are also certainly on my list. For mushrooms, it's because to me they often taste like dirt and olives, well I can't explain that one. I like salty things so I feel like I should like olives but the flavor just doesn't do it for me.
