I *still* like it, but I've heard it's impossible to clean... (especially dog fur)

Deep clean by yourself. Purge while you're at it. Then have a yard sale or Craigslist those things you aren't crazy for anymore. And voila! You've added $ to your $100 budget!

Then yes, I would paint a wall (you can buy mis-mixed paints for cheap at the hardware store)... Maybe check out the roadside for any good finds (head to a great neighborhood the evening before garbage day or the morning of)... Buy some great fabric to stretch over a huge frame (very dramatic chage to a room)... You can always pick greenery, flowers and branches from the outdoors (free!)... Many ways to stretch those dollars!

same- i've had this idea as well, but for a coffee shop/bakery (like anna lisa- which by the way was also my grandma's name!)- but i could see it being a tone of work if the originals are being sold- it means people have to move the furniture after hours in order to not disturb the customers who are actually dinning- but in this case, they order the furniture so the originals can stay-put. quite a simple concept really- and it works!

i never had a separate playroom growing up because of lack of space. it meant that at the end of every day, we cleaned up and put our toys away where they belonged (shelves, drawers, bins)... however, my friends that did have separate playrooms never had to clean up at the end of the day. they were allowed to leave their toys and mess behind. it was always a mystery to me why we couldn't play in their rooms!! it wasn't until recently that i realized many people have designated rooms for play and that play doesn't happen in a bedroom!! i never felt distracted or the need to get up out of bed to play- there was always tomorrow!

:) my doll house was the BEST present ever!! we're finnish, so naturally we have a sauna... when i was 6 or 7, for some reason i wasn't allowed to go sauna (during nov-dec.)! well, christmas eve came around, and there was one more present left... it was big and it was hiding under my mom's robe on the table... for me?! it was a doll house!! my dad had made it himself, secretly in the sauna :) my mom painted it and wallpapered it. i only ever had calico critters- played out all kinds of story lines with them (my mom always seemed to laugh at the one about the "highschool drop out bunny"!)... we collected and made furniture for it throughout the years, and the critters are still in mint condition... and it all started 20 years ago! (i'm 26 now) i have a 4 month old daughter of my own now, and i'll be happy to let her play with the doll house at her mamma and pappa's ;)

i've got three judies in my living/dinning area... judy 1, judy 2 and judy 3 :) husband thinks they're creepy, but everyone else seems to be drawn by them... most people understand that i'm a very visual person, and that i see sculptural qualities in so many things. right now the girls all have marimekkko "tonttu" (elf) hats on, and one is ready for the outdoors with her scarf... one wears a dress-up dress from when i was little. they're real characters :)

(oh, but really, the iron on isn't my idea either, i saw it on tv, they numbered the beach house's towels so that guests remember which one was their towel at the beach)...
angorian, don't use them with guests then, just ditch your paper napkins that you normally use at home, and use the numbered cloth ones to remember which one is yours (you don't necessarily need to wash them daily, but this way your family won't mix them up)

yeah, i would never pay $20 for something meant to wipe dirty mouths and hands... another option would be to buy cheaper napkins (i got some simple grey ones that were discontinued for $2 a piece), or even make some... then just buy the iron on transfer paper, print out numbers from the computer, and voila, tiny fraction of that cost... sorry for ripping of someone else's idea... but really, do you have to charge so much...
