My mom got us an indoor trampoline with a 5 foot tall net around it. It takes up most of our family room and the cats use it more than my kid does. Argh.

Why Ugly Is Okay Sometimes

CPK came out before I was born. I was a preemie and they didn't make preemie clothes or something, so my mom bought Cabbage Patch doll clothes for me and dressed me in those.

I did have one named Xavier when I was a little older.

I will never forget the year I asked for a stuffed dragon. I was so excited about that dragon and thought for sure it would be waiting for me under the tree. Christmas morning came and I was so sick I couldn't even speak. All the presents were opened and no dragon. I was so sad. Then my mom handed me one last box and I opened it and BAM - There was the dragon. I screamed "My dragon! My dragon!" but because I was so sick no sound came out. Pretty awesome.

Actually most of my Christmas morning disappointments are now that I am older, watching my teenage siblings make bank at Christmas. The year PS3s, Xbox 360s and Wii's came out, my little brother got ALL. THREE. for Christmas. Holy crap. Not gonna lie, I was totally jealous and still am.

Oh those are cool. And we have that toy horse! It's from Schleich, a German company, and I love their toy animals - they are extremely real looking. That horse, not so much, but their other horses are amazing.

This is the best nursery ever, however I have to point out that it is spelled WAMPA. Yes. I am the true geek here.

But seriously. Can I move in? The crib might be a bit small for me, but I'll just cuddle up on the wampa rug.

I have owned a Kodak, a Powershot, a Cybershot, and a Panasonic Lumix. My favorite of these was a Powershot. It was amazing. Unfortunately it got stolen. My current camera is a Panasonic Lumix and it's my 2nd favorite. It takes high-def videos, has a neat playback feature, and my favorite feature - it has a setting where you can take a bazillion pictures just holding the shutter button down. My son is very hard to photograph, so this feature has saved my life and given me some really cute pictures! It's kind of a pain to go through 300 pictures of him picking his nose, but it's worth it for the one picture that turns out of him smiling at the camera :)

Walmart has an amazing return policy and will accept the camera 30 days after you buy it, even opened, if you decide you hate it (with receipt and box and stuff.) I have returned a camera before and it was great, no hassle.

I collect these. Right now I have them displayed on a cork/bulletin board and I like that they are out where I can see them, but not as risk of getting dirty. In high school I had a bunch of patches on my backpack and after a year they were utterly destroyed.

I had my son pick out his backpack on the Internets. He's only going to preschool, but when his fox backpack from SkipHop arrived ... well, let's just say if we let him sleep with it, he would. He's practically composing sonnets about his love for it. It IS a really cute backpack, and seems to be made of sturdy material, so we'll see how long it lasts :)

Tillamook is FANTASTIC. I loved that tour. The Jelly Belly tour is also fun but my 2 year old did not appreciate it.

However, should your 2 year old fall out of his stroller and land directly on his forehead which makes a loud wet crack like a watermelon breaking open on pavement, and start screaming and crying and you start crying and freaking out because you couldn't catch him because you have a broken ankle which you got 2 days ago hiking in the Redwoods, then the workers at the Jelly Belly gift shop will be ever so helpful and pick up your screaming son and take him over to the counter and give him a huge free stuffed Jelly Belly and a handheld fan that lights up and gets him to stop screaming, in addition to providing ice packs and sympathy to your poor hurt mom-feelings. They will also help you find a doctor if you are from out of the area.

True story.

Ack, I really like this (and the owl one they have now too) but not in porcelain. Not for my crazy 3.5 year old. Dangit. Maybe I'll buy it and hold it in reserve for when he's old enough to not throw it around. Hmm.

I started collecting iron/sew on patches when I lived in England. (Of course I only figured out that they would be good to collect after I had visited almost every place on my itinerary and was close to leaving. Pout.) I only have about 8, but a few weeks ago I went to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah and they had a patch. I snapped it up. Right now they are on display on a cork board in my craft room, but someday I will iron them onto a quilt or a jacket or something fancy.

Bonus - they're cheap and they pack flat. And they aren't breakable!

1200sq ft for 3 humans and 2 cats, and I feel lik we could downsize no problem. DH doesn't agree though. We are wanting to move to the UK at some point in the future and I have a feeling he's in for a rude awakening when he sees house sizes across the pond.

I just took my 3 year old son to Bryce Canyon last weekend. We had a blast. If you are planning on hiking with a preschooler, just plan on plenty of extra time. We went for a 3 mile hike and it took about 3 hours. Toby got pretty cranky halfway through so we ended up bribing him with fruit snacks ("okay, you can have another one at the next switchback. What color do you want?") but hey, whatever works.

I love that version of the book nook, but it might be difficult if you don't have access to power tools - saws and sanders and blah blah blah.

I really wanted to make one of those but since I don't have any tools, I don't know if I can.

CanadianTired, then perhaps your father taught you how not to be like him? :)

That's pretty much what my dad taught me. I was adopted by him at age 3 (when he married my mom) and then after they had kids together, was constantly tossed aside in favor of the natural kids. The favoritism is still blatant to this day, 21 years later. So my dad taught me how NOT to parent, and I think if I ever adopt a child I will know exactly what to do/how to treat that child so s/he does not grow up feeling like I did. Thanks dad!
