Karen over at The Art of Doing Stuff says to pour bleach on it. Haven't tried it, but I'll give it a shot the next time I burn myself. Ouch! How Do You Treat a Kitchen Burn? |

After relying on my friends and family to help me move every couple of years (I moved around a lot while in college), all the while acquiring more and more (heavy) stuff (namely MCM furniture, books and vinyl - my record collection is now about 6,000), about 8 years ago I started hiring movers. I cannot stress this enough: if you have more than will fit in a mini-van - HIRING MOVERS IS SO WORTH IT. Rather than sweating and straining and lifting and cursing, you get to stand back and direct, and the entire process is usually finished in an hour or so (depending on the distance, of course). I just moved again last weekend and it was a no-brainer. If at all possible, hiring movers is the way to go. A Moving Story: Friends or Professionals? |

I agree with other posts - I've always had cats and never had to deal with mice or bugs. And cats are much cuddlier than traps or poison, too. Help! How Can We Stop the Mice Invasion? Good Question |

I found a beautiful 1,100 sf, 2-bedroom apartment in an Edwardian building with a balcony overlooking downtown Denver (the building was rumored to have been a haunt for Jack Kerouac during his On The Road days too, which I saw as a bonus). I was going to have the place to myself and I thought the $900 a month was a steal. After I moved in, I began to notice the presence of quite a lot of fire trucks passing outside my building - my apartment was on the second floor so the trucks were RIGHT outside my windows. I came to realize that there was a fire station two blocks north of the building and the trucks used my street to get to Colfax (a large East-West thoroughfare) on their way to fires or cats stuck in trees. I was serenaded between half a dozen and a dozen times a day by the screaming sirens, and after a year of having to put people on hold while on the phone or pause the tv and wait for them to pass, I'd had enough. 10 Renting Warning Signs |

I lived in a house were the original owner had died (not sure if he actually died IN the house or not) and lots of unexplained things occurred. However, I never felt scared. But I have been in places that just felt BAD, and I couldn't wait to leave. If I lived in a place like that I would definitely move out. As someone who has always had cats, finding an unobtrusive place to put the litter box in a small apartment is always a challenge (bathroom? corner of the kitchen? Ugh). I recently found the COOLEST litter box I have ever seen (you know you're getting older when you get excited about a litter box) - it's the Modkat Hiding the Litter Box In a Closet | Apartment Therapy DC |
