Instead of hiding the W/D behind the curtain, why not put up some fun shelves over the pair, and then display a big glass jar with laundry powder and maybe some inexpensive vintage prints that are laundry / bath related.

Then you would have a shelf to place a small metal desk light. I'm thinking something that would down-light the laundry area, like a banker's desk light or something gooseneck.

I'm not big on the string lights, especially because I can see the extension cord you are using too. It looks haphazard.

Bummer! The Marimekko shower curtain isn't available on-line because it is a clearance item. It's normally $60, so that would certainly be a find in store if you have one local. I don't. :(

FYI: CameraZoomFX is on sale for $2.99 currently and there is a free version of Little Photo.

I am a fan of RetroCam (free!) and PhotoEffects (again, free!) for my HTC Evo.

Our girls sampled 5 pieces on Halloween night and then searched their bags for 10 favorite pieces to save for the next 10 days.

We took advantage of the trade in at EarthFare and got big reusable bags, flower seeds, coloring books, whole grain tortilla chips, an apple, and 6 real chocolate mated milk balls. The "candy fairy" also brought books and activity books.

My girls are really happy with this arrangement and it teaches that treats are fine in moderation.

I love the next to last image with the built in foot-to-foot beds, and I'm smitten with the yellow light fixture too!

I have 5 year old twin girls, and we renovated their room last year. They don't have a large room, so we chose to build storage beds from Ana White's site.

We love the way they turned out!

I love it! It went from being an eyesore to a minimalist classy addition to the dining room. :)

To anyone that wants a short term fix for their ugly chandelier, I can attest that Krylon Indoor / Outdoor gloss spray paint holds up well with 2-3 light coats and no sanding. Hey, I'm lazy! After all, no one will be touching the chandelier to scratch the paint.

From disgusting bronze chandelier to a fun green for $33!

I love Estate Sales! I collect far too much at them for our 1930s house. :)

I wrote a post a bit back about the website and iPhone application that I use to locate sales in my area.

Where is the actual door from the Dining Room to the Kitchen located? I would either turn the opening into a sizeable bar or get rid of the glaringly obvious white trim.

You can see where our door was located in the first picture, and we opened up the whole wall to add a bar. Would that work with the positioning in your house?

It doesn't look like the current pass through allows much light through; you could always sheetrock over the opening, too.
